Oh Lordy, didn't the guards vacate y'all from the beach? Yeah, lighting, like sharks, won't pick on packs. They go after lone dudes separated from the pack. You at the jetty, Kandy? Just hide between some of the rocks. Amps...volts...? NJNY, you some high voltage guy? Hey, NJNY I hope you're domestically blissed. Yesterday was alright, huh? Well, SJ was, at least. But cereal folks, get of the beach and out of the water if thunderstorms are in the area. It ain't worth it. Unless you seal your self in rubber(5 mil, boots gloves hood). Rubber rejects amps and volts. Joke. Really, if you fear sharks, then you should really fear lightning. Lightning kills, and no pills will help. Sharks, man, you'll probably get some pills. So what have we learned: Lightning is more of a danger than sharks. And you'll probably be dead after a lightning strike, so there's no hope for Oxymorphone. Hi, Barry !!
Thundersnow is dope, yo. I saw it in THE OBX over the sound one evening, around 3:00 am. It was b!tchen. Magical little snow storm in THE OBX. I had a surprise appointment with Currituck Probation the next morning and I was dirty. 2-3 inches, man. That snow storm closed the county offices and I slid on by. I loved that storm. Praise Wayne ~!
Oh I was working at 3:00 am, less anyone think I was being a rock star that night. I wasn't. I was nervous as heck. Out on the deck of The Sanderling Inn on THE OBX(the origin of The Sticker), smoking a cig, staring at the sound(that's, like, a "bay" for you northerners), and it was snowing... So, I'm like, Ah Wayne please give us enough snow to disrupt the routine lives of Eastern Carolina..... And Boom lightning and thunder.......One of nature's cooler experiences. Just ax Jim Cantore. And then I got over on them law enforcement types and I had a lovely drive up to Philly that day. Ha, I still had herb, too. F the police.
last Wednesday evening I went up to the seaside heights boardwalk to give away FREE BIBLES and had to ditch it because of scattered thunderstorms. It was violent, the lightning was right there, huge, bright and consistent and the thunder cracks were scary. after looking at the funny mirrors and taking my wife and the pastor's family on the carousel, I peeked out and what to my wondering eyes should appear? I couldn't believe my eyes. people walking on the beach along the shoreline, people out surfing the south side of the pier, and thunder and lightning still all around. I mean it was a glassy 1 foot mushy swell, so then a whole pack of surfers walked down the beach and joined the others in the lineup. we got some kupper's fries and kohr's frozen custard and called it a night. only at the jersey shore
Maybe god was trying to tell you not to hand out the free bibles and just enjoy your time with your family. instead!

or better yet, maybe, just maybe I was just telling the story and trying to write a little more creatively than usual, since we have a surf predictin' website with God in all these threads, including one that praises the infallible pope of all things. no, I don't think the lightning had anything to do with me or the FREE BIBLES. I just thought it made the story more interesting, like the reference to the casino pier arcade funny mirrors and carousel, and the unhealthy kupper's fries and kohr's frozen custard reference. i'm fat. of course it is a slightly free forum, so, if you want to keep it all predictable by being all hung up about the FREE SURFBO...uh, I mean, Bibles, then keep on keepin' on, in that predictable swelinfo forum way. how original, as if there were ever a genuine original thought out there. actually, correct that! there really are a lot of fun, intelligent, creative, hardcore dedicated to surfing characters on here, but they didn't jump on the FREE BIBLES bait like you. hook, line and sinker. sorry. just funnin' ya. let's keep it positive. not my strong suit. how about those potentially fatally stupid surfers and beachwalkers at the seaside heights casino pier out in a severe thunderstorm? do you think it is a good idea?
i was surfing in a lightning storm once. I dove deep after a wave and lightning struck not to far from me. the flash was blinding even with my eyes closed, under water. All i really remember is a blinding pink light. Or maybe that was right before my birth?
I've never paddled out in one, but I've been out and had a t-storm blow up and thought "I'll just catch one more wave, then go in." The waves were good. I caught a decent one and thought, "I'll just catch one more wave, then go in." Paddled back out. It was dumb.
it doesn't work like that,u don't sit in water and have a bolt strike near u and u don't get electrocuted.its no different than dropping a hair dryer in the bathtub,u will die.all it takes is 1 amp to kill somebody. iv been bit by the light a few too many times, never surfing and never in water.when ur body makes that ground,u feel it pulsing through ur muscles, like vibrations, there is no such thing as a "shock" when u get electrocuted,2 different things.u don't feel a shock,u feel vibrations when ur really getting electrocuted. and being in salt water, salt uhhhh I don't know the correct term but it makes the water more conductable, meaning its a good base to connect the circuit, something like that ,im not an electrician,i just did a few wiring jobs here and there.i had a ground on a steel chassis, the things that hold the shipping containers,18 wheelers,in the rain and anytime u touched the chassis u will feel the vibrations.its a scary feeling,u might even shyt urself
why you dont surf when there is tstorms
Last summer 3 of us met up early morning. There was lightning about a half mile off the jetty. The waves were these beautiful pretty clean silvery rolling, almost waist high medium interval, sets of two. The lighting was eerie and gorgeous, no rain. I said, "I didn't drive down here not to get wet. Let's just take one ride" . So we exchanged info on our medical insurance, keys, and cell phones and paddled out. It was so wonderful. By then, the storm seemed to be moving further away. We took two more rides and the Lightning was gone. It's the stupidest thing we ever did, and won't do it again. But the adrenaline, summer warm water and camaraderie was indescribable. Being older with kids all grown, made the choice easier.
lol. If you have posted 2,500 times with that grammar, i'm not surprised you have experience with accidental electrocution...
