This from flhurricane.com. Florida is desperate for any wave bigger than shin high. It's been flat, like, forever: "The first Central Atlantic wave of the season is being tracked as invest area 93L. With only slight support for it with the models, chances are on the low side. Over the next few days its worth watching, and likely would be at the closest approach to the Leewards on Monday. This wave is about 1000 miles west of the Cape Verde islands and generally moving westward. It has a 20% development chance over the next 5 days. If it persists through tomorrow the chances may go up, slightly, but iIt likely will encounter more hostile conditions with very high shear over the weekend into early next week which argue heavily against development.. Odds favor it staying weak, and staying east and recurving out to sea before reaching the Caribbean. Although there may be some rain for the northeastern most Leeward Islands.
Could be good news. If it hangs on long enough as a low and hits the right path, could send some swell this way. In the words of Princess Laia of Star Wars, " It's our only hope"
Ohhhh yeah. Going to be shreding in a few days boys!! Wax up the big gun it's about to get gnarley!!! ChoCHOOOOO
"I just want to surf" repeated several times daily by myself and mine. At this point I'm ready to pay the Jaguars linemen to do cannon balls of the pier so I can ride the ripples in.
we had pretty decent surf here on long island last wednesday.... at the same time.... I was in the city all day... so... yeah.
I know. This is the longest flat spell in July. I still paddle out, cuz I love my new board, and BSing with the posse, but I think I might bring goggles this weekend and look for cool things underwater. I paddled out in Sebastian Wednesday-- totally flat and very chilly water-- 73F
Stir it up, little darlin, Stir it up. It's been a long, long time, since I got you on my mind. oOOoO!

oh gawd u Floridians are insane,73 degree water is chilly??!!!whats warm water,90?how cold does the water get in florida in the winter?upper 60s - low 70s?do u guys get waves in the winter are is it only the hurricane swells u get to surf? come to the northeast if u want surf.nobody surfs in summer, unless ur a kook or we get a freak storm like we had last august.summer is always flat.always.....but winter makes up for it.i imagine if u live in florida u have enough money to cop a 300$ 5/4 wetsuit.water hits a low around 35 degrees, polar vortex around 32 degrees with -16 air temps.but the waves in winter get beyond epic and theres only a few guys out. and im not trying to sound cool or brave lol,im far from hardcore.the people that deserve the props are the ones surfing in nh,maine, and Canada, the water barely touches 65 degrees at the hottest
I have nothing but respect for you guys surfing in cold water. Ocean did warm up to @80 today When it dips below 70 in winter, I pull out my 4/3 and booties.
