I don't know if you'd call it surfing, but I've gone out with my board twice this week so far and did a lot of paddling. No ride-able surf here, but it was nice to cool off after work and beats working out in the gym.
Yeh I went out this mourning and tried to surf thigh high mush. Just had to get in the water. Caught a little shore break on the way in and broke a fin. Still glad I paddled around for awhile.
I just got back from bodyboarding some thigh/waist not too mushy mush. It was unpredicted and unexpected and fun. It's the first time I've been in the water this month and I've missed it. I hear it was bigger yesterday, but I woke up with a vicious migraine and couldn't go.
Scarecrow, glad you got some...any mini-pits? Hey, have you considered micro-dosing for your migraines? Check these guys out...https://clusterbusters.org/
I don't get them too often, so I just deal with it when one strikes, then get on with my life. I don't do doctors unless it's something urgent. No mini pits, but some nice faces to ride, such an improvement over weeks of nothin'.
Hey when you Delaware guys go somewhere else(like out-of-state) are y'all, like, floored by having to paddle out? Or do y'all go to OCMD for paddling missions?
Yeah most Delawareans do most of their surfing in Maryland anyway. But mostly for the convenience of buying a beer in a gas station, after those tiring 50+ foot paddles.
not me. the surf predictin' websites said we'd have a small swell yesterday for several days out, even up to yesterday morning, but I got the flat spell blues. no waves whatsoever. i'm pretty depressing and lay around a lot when there's no surf. I went out in 1 foot total ****house 2 nights ago, but it wasn't enough to fuel the stoke
Got to surf fairly mediocre Delores swell in north county San Diego this week. Back home to the flatness now. Should help carry me until September I hope....PS Riley, I made the paddle out all week. I just switch my technique up when I'm not in Delaware to utilize my biceps more. They are super strong from all the tow-ins and winching we do here.
Got out early yesterday morning in LBI for small but clean and fun rampy rights. Only problem was that I didn't remember to bring my wetsuite and actually made fun of my friend for wearing his spring suite...anyway the SW to NW wind that started blowing Tuesday afternoon had caused the water to drop from the low 70s to about 60. It was cold!
Yeah but west coasters can't paddle either because they have so long lulls. Oh so long...... And they got some channels I hear. Actually North Jersey people don't paddle much either. Ha, now they won't be paddling at all as the ACE destroys all their spots. South Jersey paddles. And we paddle hard.
Ah CJ...I gotta ax why there be so many CJs on this here surf predicting website Hey I was on the island all day yesterday...There were some fun little micro barrels but I didn't see any rampiness bruh You know I rocked up with a 1mill top and froze all day too..Oh and I saw some splashing and a fin...it was the most exciting part of the day I've been mostly disappointed in the island for years ever since they buried those cedars jetties...Riley knows what I be sayin
Most spots the lineup is pretty close to the beach. Not a long paddle out, but the current is what we have to deal with. If there's a swell, there's a current... and it sucks. Way worse than South Jersey.
No fins sighted for me except for a dolphin or two... We were up on the north part of the island... there are few streets with nice sandbars that worked pretty good until the tide got too high. We jumped in where it looked good and drifted down a few streets. It was nothing epic but still fun except that I couldn't feel my feet when I got out.
wrong. in my virtually puny sj experience cape may and Holyoke have current that rivals your wussy northern Monmouth county mush. and i'm in central jersey ocean county. admit it. it's weak up there.
The current at Holyoke (WJ in particular) is brutal. Do you consider that south jersey? Cape May at the Cove can have some current, but it's nothing like it can get up here. That's why they're on the third round of replenishment. The longshore current is super strong on any good swell, and everything ends up at Sandy Hook. Even you, if you're not paying attention!
Light offshores, two feet of long period swell, and a low tide made for some pretty fun longboard waves this morning in MD. Drop in outside...set a line...race the pocket while clumsily edging noseward, occasionally getting there with at least a few toes. Really fun morning that reminded me why I'll always have a longboard, even if I only pull it out a few times a year. So stoked.
