Gotta keep simod666 off balance. Yep, having one's own biz is a sure-fire m.o. to nail miles & points. I know of what you speak. Everything we purchase in the biz goes on a card. Not only miles & pts to me but the company gets the float, although it's only a few days now compared to a couple weeks in years gone by. Kind of a drawback that you're in the restaurant biz, though (only Mondays off....oh buoy!), 'cause you can't jump on flights for wknd swells. Def work on that time off thing. Or, you could sell award flights to Blasters at heavily discounted prices & pocket the cash.
Working for an airline= free travel, been doing it for years. Only problem is it's all standby and sometime It's Hard to Get back home.
Some decent deals floating around on www.thepointsguy.com 75k miles on AA if you spend $7,500 in 90 days. Get the card, rack up the purchases. Then, book one or two free airline tickets to Costa Rica. Or PR. Or San Diego if you're on the right coast. Or Barbados. Might not be as tough as you initially think. Farm it out, meaning, talk to mum & dad & friends & maybe even the boss. Tell 'em you're trying to nail down a trip & you need them to put the big purchases on your card. Your buddy buys his Samsung flat screen on your card - - make sure he writes you the check the same day - - and so on, until you've racked up the goal. Keep an eye out for United Airlines offers, too. Because if you nail 80k miles that gets you a free RT ticket in BIZ class to Trujillo, Peru. Chicama being one hour away from TRU. All you gotta pay for at that point is lodging, food & a rental rig. And all that is 'splittable' with your travel partner.
Remembered just now? Never mind I thought this was in reference to your original post It was super hilarious in my head, whatever. Enjoy your escape for now, but don't think I didn't see that millennial comment.
Speaking of, UAL stock is ****ing pumping right now. Be it the price of oil or whatever, you could probably ride the escalator up and get you a free vacation that way.
Calm down, sparky. Just trying to help you get a coupla surf treks under your leash. As for UAL shares, if you buy because the CEO changed up (the only reason it's spiking) then you're wasting your money. It's actually trading far below the YTD highs, and despite your breathless passion for its recent jump, the fundamentals haven't changed. The recent spike is due to emotion, young handtowel, and emotion doesn't last. Sell the spike, buy the dip. As for you, jerky or gerry or jerryjerky, get a hello tread. Until then, abuse yourself. At will.
i didn't buy it, missed the escalator up, pretty much. i've chased a few stocks like that and had to sell at a loss, ultimately. but it's nice to speculate... like Oprah, 70k in one day on WTW. i wonder if the cow took at least a bit of profit to tend to her minge. take it shopping.
By the time you see the move, it's too late. The market has taken the information, gigested it & done what it's going to do. You end up chasing & getting burned, as you have noted. Buy the rumour; sell the fact.
What are some other ways to earn miles that people might not know about? You can actually shop through airline shopping portals. That means instead of going to Target.com, Nordstrom.com, never, never never go directly through those websites. Always click through a mileage portal. All the major airlines and hotels have these shopping portals where you actually get extra miles just for clicking through the portal. There’s a Web site, evreward.com, which actually lists all the shopping portals and how many miles per dollar you can get. And this is in addition to using a credit card that earns miles. This is kind of like double dipping. You could use a Delta card and shop through an Ameican Airlines Nordstrom site and then you’ll earn American and Delta miles. It’s unbelievable. It’s a no brainer.
Suck on these numbers smegma legs & MIS You two guyz are so cool with your 9 to 5's, yah, totally respect proles who feed the western capitalist TAXATION machine 624k UA 350k AA 412k AX 150k JB 230k DL Surf's up.....somewhere....I'll be thinking of you two cool cats while I'm sipping champagne & tropics-bound
AA is about to screw all of us who hold AAdvantage miles. Yep. Big devaluation coming as of March 22. Up to 60% higher redemption levels for free award ticket travel. What to do? Redeem your miles for tickets now. Even if it's for who-knows-if-there-will-be-surf dates. Case in point, moi. Redeeming AA miles for tickets in April 2016 to CR. 5 day surf trek. Screw it, even if the crazy winds are blowing or it's flat a coupla days, the surf will be there all day every day for a few. And it's tropical water after the gringo heavy rubber winter, so it's all good. With this stuff, aka miles, it's truly use it or lose it. Used to be you could hang onto miles & knock down the dream trips. No more, unfortunately. And it must be said, the airlines are such scumbags. They continue to flog 'upgrades using your miles' and 'dream trips using your miles' whilst simultaneously jacking up redemption levels. Upgrades? Upgrades are a joke. Last time I went through the ATL on DL there were 52 names on the wait list to upgrade to biz class. Watching the final dayz, end of an era.
Hey Yankee, can you explain how the changes will effect AAdavantage miles for redemption? I went on AA.com and could only decipher that mileage amounts would change to book flights, but not always up- some were lower, like super saver fares when you can flight off peak. Are they changing expiration rules? Any help appreciated, I got about 90k and waiting for the right time to use 'em...thx
