Except were otherwise provided herein, from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend, it shall be unlawful for any person to use a surfboard in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Fridays, weekends and holidays, in any of the following areas:

^This does bite, but honestly there are hundreds of families in the water so even if you find a spot you're ping-ponging on the inside

Virginia Beach has the most surf restrictions of any beach town I have ever visited or lived in. It's f-ing ridiculous! "Surf here (in a 1-block area), don't surf here (in a 40-block area), and only during these times which change every day." What a bunch of BS! I've been hassled by the lifeguards for surfing in no-surf zones even when there is absolutely nobody out, but luckily have evaded officer di*kwad as mentioned above...

 

He's a real reactionary.

 

One would think that, for safety sake, a line of watermen sitting on floatation devices would be a deterrent against tourons being sucked out to see by the "UNDERTOW!!!!!!!!!!!" but nooooooooooooooooo

well it was actually because you cant surf north end VB on weekends until 4:00 pm.. I really thought anything past the board walk was fair game any time. which means the only legal surfing areas are 1st st. (Fvck that..) and Croatan (eh..)

That's why I said "otherwise law-abiding..." since he said he was respectful, etc, yet still received a ticket. I know the rules of surfing in VB - I'm just stating my opinion that the rules are ridiculous and the enforcement of said rules is also ridiculous. That's what the petition is about as well.

 

the dude1984 Good for ya not just rolling over and takin' sh*t like so many b*tchs on here would do. If ya'll don't stand up nothing will change. If ya'll can get some local businesses in on the the issue as well ya'll could negotiate a better/fairer solution for your right to use the ocean for what it was made for, Surfing.

 

Sounds like you guys live in the movie Footloose, but instead of banning dancing, they're banning surfing. You should just get everyone together with your boards and have a big dance at the beach instead.

On a serious note, you could ask for a withhold of adjudication and likely walk away only paying court costs. This does not create an attorney client relationship.

Okay, fair enough. There is no reason this officer could not have just given a warning, but, its a resort town, so... $$$$$$$$$$

No. It's like waving it in front of a bull. But the point is moot. There has been NO waves this spring nor now. BUT, when it does come, I'd like to see the bastids keep us out. Muh fuggers will get a riot like in 7/4/'76.
