lifeguards are like horshoe crabs.just kick them on their backs and tell them to phu-kohff.but I actually like horshoe crabs more than lifeguards.they are the reason I do not like to touch the bottom when I go swimming.

if all else fails just get a live one and put it on the lifeguard stand.

Va Beach...where our freedoms go to die. Hope you get the ticket cost reduced or thrown out. The tuba idea is also a good one, lol.

OK So I although I am a newbie to this site I actually can help you here. Fight it, fight it fight it.. Here is the deal. Go to the police station and request a copy of the report of the phone conversation that was taken. YES THEY HAVE TO KEEP A RECORD OF IT EVEN IF IT IS RECORDED. Make sure you have a video camera with you when you go to the police station and have your friend record it. They will tell you that you cannot have a video recorder in the building BUT this is 100% within the law no matter what they say. The video is to be used as evidence in the case they DO NOT give you a report of the incident. The report should have the name of the lady that complained. If it does not that is STRIKE ONE for the case against you. By law your accuser must be named and also MUST BE PRESENT in court to be a witness to the fact. I will assure you the name will not be in the report and the person will not be in court either.

Very important to make sure you have a witness in court with you that will confirm what the officer said to you. That some one called and he DID NOT see you creating the offense with HIS OWN EYES. An officer cannot give you a ticket for something someone else said( ie hearsay) without seeing the incident themselves or without an offensible incident happening once he arrived on scene to investigate the complaint.

Otherwise I could call the police station at anytime and have my boss, my neighbor, my mother in law, or some random stranger hauled away in handcuffs because I supposibly saw them beating up someone, attempting to rape someone, or attempting to kill someone.. just doesn't work that way.

End result is this cop is hoping that you will be too scared, too misinformed, or just too stupid to show up to court with the proper documentation, and information to fight it. IF YOU JUST SHOW UP IT HIS WORD AGAINST YOURS, BUT IF YOU SHOW UP prepared, they will throw it out... GUARANTEED!

One last thing.. if by some small chance they do not throw it out and they reduce it, show up to the citation office and pay in PENNIES. YES THIS DOES WORK AND IT IS LEGAL. It does not have to be rolled no matter what they say, ALL LEGAL TENDER There are doezens of videos on youtube that show this just be sure again to have your camera rolling. Lawsuits are won everyday over police officers and government offices trying to scare the American people out of their rights..

    Hope this helps.

Don't pay this fine, it's an abuse of power. Channel your inner John Adams and fight this thing.. Too fun has solid advice.

And some of you f'ers say FL sux. F this sh*t! I've never had any issue surfing ANYWHERE in North / Cental FL or the Gulf. Not once in 20 years have I ever seen anybody get in trouble nor have I personally. Sounds like VB is possibly the worst place on earth to be a surfer. No waves, and regulations out the ass. Tell them to kiss your mutha fuggin ass!

Gotta know the rules is all.

I just saw that these regs had already been posted.
Even with all this there are still families who wade/swim/float/defecate in the adjacent designated surfing or non-swim areas of the beach.

    but he did see them:
Someone called and complained and when the cop got they they were still in the water. If they were chilling on the sand when he arrived it would be completely different and they might've had a chance.

Yes. When they fly red flags it suspends the no surfing rules & you can surf all day. Honestly it's not that bad with the restrictions, as once it hits around waist high the flags come out and it's open season. It's those knee high summer days that you just want to get wet and catch anything cause its been flat for a month that get you...

Ah I missed that one. Also a good point about the NO SURF rule. So the question is. 1. Were you surfing during the no surfing time restriction and 2. Were you in a no surf zone?

They have similiar restrictions in the North East at some places and beaches. Most of the NH spots have designated SWIM ZONES where surfing is not allowed but it is a very small area of beach compared to the "do what ever you want zone" Funny how crowded it gets in the summer though. There were people complaining about all the surfboards in the water a couple of weeks ago but when they called a lifeguard over he told them that if they wanted to swim without surfers around then they should go to the flagged off area otherwise you have to share the water with the surfers..... believe he also was a surfer which helped as well.

I was breaking the law and the law saw me.

Sounds like the gig you guys have up in the north east is pretty good. It is the exact opposite down here, 2 blocks (out of more than 80 or so) are full time surfing zones. The rest, is a no fly zone during certain times... damn near all day on the weekends. I'm ready for October.

DE is pretty much all state parks. 1 state park has a guarded area and a non guarded area, besides that, not much surf. If you head a little south to OC, they have designated surfing areas, or go out before guards or after guards. I second the October!

The north end of VB isn't even a guarded beach, that's the whole reason I thought I could surf there anytime.

Should have read the rule book...

Yeah, thats pretty crazy. I could see if you were in a guarded area. Rents used to live in Suffolk, I have been to VB quite a few times, but I've never surfed there
