I switched to Google Chrome a couple a year or two ago and I think it's better than I.E. most of the time. You can have both on your computer, try it out, if you don't like it, go back. Mozilla blows.

Oh man.. Is a Mac an option?
Anyway, make a separate account for your niece to play on, separate settings and cookies and everything - easy to flush on the reg and get a clean start without touching your own account.

I use Safari, but back in the PC days I found Opera to be a very resource efficient browser. It's open source (or at least used to be) developed initially by a few cool dudes running Unix and Linux systems... I used to rock Slackware 8 and some FreeBSD at some point. Sh/Perl scripted the crap out of it...
Anyway, try it. Opera with a large red O. And a separate account for all the malware :)

    Think about it this way.

Google chrome is a bit faster than the other browsers. Those seconds add up to minutes. Minutes to hours. Hours to days. You don't want to waste any time of your life waiting for websites to load.

Opera is faster than chrome. I'm 75% sure of that.
But don't forget that separate account! That's where it's at.
