Not sure if anyone notices these anomalies in the wind data. This one is very blatant. SI admin please respond as I am curious why the data would differ so much. I use SI a ton to cross reference swell/wind date (well when we actually have swell). The forecast here (SI) is showing a NEerly flow tomorrow (from nags head to rodanthe). Surfline is calling for green conditions (what ever that means b/c they are wrong all the time for EC). But, the weather channel hourly wind forecast (which is probably the most reliable besides standing on the beach tomorrow at sunrise.....which I will be doing anyway) is showing slight southerly moving towards SW by 8am. The question: Why? Where is the wind data being pulled form for SI? Thanks and keep rocking a free site!!!
in NJ they have the same discrepancy sorta. They have the wind direction right all day when compared to weather.com but they have the strength off by like 10 knots. should be clean in the morning in NJ with winds being less than 5 knots all night.
Well, I gotta say, SI was pretty accurate (last couple of swells have been really spot on). The forecasted wind and swell size was very accurate for our region. unfortunately it was not what I wanted to see...onshore flow and pretty crappy. #fickleeastcoastatitagain
