Hello all! After some researching i'm probably travelling to LA in September (or October) for around 10 days longboarding/SUP Surf and then probably flying somewhere around, First of all, i'm thinking of renting a car in LA so that i'm able to drive around the spots (since as i see they are many) but also make some visits to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, etc. Do you think thats a good idea? Where is there best location to stay if i want to combine good surf in the morning and some walks/dinner/drinks in the afternoon with the wife? Where does autumn bring best swells? City center, somewhere close to the beach, San Diego, San Clemente, Long Beach? Or are they all the same? Is there any problem if i SUP surf in those beaches or SUP is acceptable in LA surf beaches?
Me too! wasn't easy tho. I saw a dude mouth inflate... (Hand blow?) his inflatable SUP a couple days ago. Had a paddle and everything. The sea was a little too rough for it, but it looked to be a serious craft. Musta been at least 12' long... Whoa... He didn't paddle out though.. Idk why. Maybe he was testing the air-tightnicity of it before venture out on a voyage into open sea between the jetties
You can SUP and tour from Santa Monica/Venice. Don't SUP around real surfers. You will need a car to see much. Any beach town south of LAX will be okay for longboarding unless it gets big. You can't walk to surf from your hotel if you want to be near downtown LA or SD. Don't go north of LA, there's nothing up here but sharks, knife-wielding bums, and brush fires.
A sad but true fact is that it's happening Towelie I mean, I don't care how one gets off in da watah, but do it within reason and commonne sense. My boss, a sailor, who doesn't surf, was actually venting about the stupidity of sup today... ^^^But, I mean, come on...
holy crap, i was just kidding....i don't think i'd ever try even surfing there, unlike say skeleton bay or maldives...but that wave sure is on my bucket list to boog.
