The ol rando would softly paddle over to this fella and hit on him . I would bet my best jeans that he would think u would be staring @ his tight ass all session and just get creeped out and leave . Easy breezy sugar face
honestly, I'm kinda like you: I go out to have fun and no hassles. My goal is to catch as close to the peak as possible...but sometimes I'm too tired or stick to the shoulder so I don't get pitched by whitewater (we get a lot of not so perfect days). I sometimes get out-jockied by those more experienced and in better shape than me, but as long as I get a few good ones, I leave happy...I don't let any frustrations cause me to ruin my own day. That dude does sound miserable, though. People with tattoos on their neck usually fall into two categories: millionaires and those on the poverty line. Kinda hard to get employed at a good paying job when you have a skull & crossbones on your neck or whatever. You could go to the local starbucks/coffee house, where you'll probably find him working as a barista, and kick in his spokes...but, chances are he's unemployed and you'll have to go back to the same peak, tomorrow, to find him.
also bro dont mean to burst ur bubski but idk what skill level your at but i know most of us are guilty of this if there isnt that many waves coming through and theirs a dude out worse than me im gonna hog the peak especially if hes blowing more than one wave...i dont like when nice waves go by wasted. say what you want but you said it yourself if your gettin pissed just move to the next peak if its not a point break....
Seems to me both parties involved could have handled the situation better. I would love to hear the other guys side of the story.
hmmm, first post speaks volumes here... Clearly don't get anything that was said here. Im going to assume your kid doesn't have issues because you taught him respect and not to be a douche and drop in on people because you arbitrarily feel you aren't getting enough waves...
This is one ridiculous thread. You paddle out (to the peak) and surf. If there are other guys in the line up then your line up skills must kick in. If waves are rolling in and no one is on the peak, I am going straight to it to catch another one...not wait on some guy on the shoulder trying to figure out where to sit. If it was just two surfers, I would try to give benefit of the doubt to try not to be the Di*^ but who is going to sit there and let nice peaks roll through while someone is sitting inside catching the shoulder...not me. I paddled out Sunday for the afternoon/evening sesh and there were 5 guys on the peak. Eventually there was me and one other guy. I was probably a slightly better surfer but he was way more aggressive on trying to position himself on the peak. I was able to edge him further up the beach and then swing wide when sets came and ended up getting most of the set waves for an hour. The whole time, we introduced ourselves and even hooted each other into waves. Line up awareness is going to get you good waves without needing to drop in, which comes with experience.
Truth is "kindness" leads to wasted waves. I'm guilty of this when I'm on the peak, letting waves pass only to have the next guy not be ready for the charity and the whole thing goes unridden. It confuses everything and leads to misunderstanding. Fight for it or don't just don't complain about it and drop in. What happens between close friends sharing the peak and complete strangers are two different things. Find your place in the line up and deal with it. Plenty of days I'm near the top of the pecking order others in the middle. You can always ride one in and look for another peak. Sometimes standing on the beach and looking will show an opening in the lineup that isn't apparent when in the water.
Sometimes standing on the beach and looking will show an opening in the lineup that isn't apparent when in the water. Excellent point. You almost need to be analytical in your approach whether it is empty or crowded.
Look I have no problem in a lineup and have had my share of paddle battles. But I really didnt see the need for this to turn into one. guy was literally taking a wave, paddling back out and turning and taking the next wave in. I gave him a pass several times before he got dropped in on. this guy was rotten from the start and would have been some sort of issue no matter what. BradPitted does not tolerate that ****.
Id do the same thing if you werent hassling me for the peak..... Hassle like a gentlemen fellers..........hassle like a gentlemen.
