What is this "surf" you speak of. I have a distant memory....maybe it was a dream.

    Back to yard work.

I don't know about that. We got some super fun clean knee to thigh highs this morning, came down though by about 9:00 a.m. At sunrise a rogue set of waist highs rolled through but only once. I did hear that the contest was cancelled today at Seb Inlet.

I was running on the beach at sunrise and hoping to go out after. Nary a wave to be seen. There were plenty of SUPs though. I'm ready for fall.

Betty is correct. I felt like doing some shoulder hopping today so I hit the secret inlet and found a small rideable wave. After a propre sand reconne I joined Betty and crew in the water. With her new bored she sat way outside and was grabbing all the good waves. I couldn't get any waves and became quite butt hurt over this. I decided to start dropping in on her to teach her a lesson.

Next thing I know Betty waves at me from the beach and then throws all my stuff in the water! I was way outside waiting for one of those rogue sets to come through otherwise I would have paddled in and confronted her.

Life is good. I feel sorry for people that don't surf.

we got like 1.3ft waves today and the "Belmar pro" is going off lol.cant make this shyt up.they honestly need to start doing winter contests, when we actually have waves.would be a lot cooler to see the towns "best" in some real conditions.in these conditions I could probably sign my nephew up and he'll win lol

Much of the summer here in VB was a bust wave-wise. There were a few times when it picked up a little, but often it was hit or miss and choppy. I'd go out anyway with the long board, my 8 footer, or the old, beat-up Gnaraloo Fatty soft top if conditions were such that I didn't want to chance damaging a good long board.
Still managed to damage the longboard and had more than the usual number of injuries, including being in face by board/fin and last week a bruised (hopefully not cracked) rib from being hit by the board. Am now laid up for a bit. I can still run though, just can't lay on the board. Anyway, all this while on the longboard during knee-high, shallow conditions. I just turned 60, and you'd think I'd be smarter. Live and learn. I see some of those old folks at my Dad's nursing home, and I sure don't want to go out that way. Figure I'm going to keep at this as long as I can even if I look like an old fool.
A lot of folks ridicule soft tops, and I was at times a bit embarrassed being seen with one (kind of like still riding a bike with training wheels). But they can take a beating and do come in handy when you just have to get in the water and don't want to mess up a good board due to lousy conditions.
