25 year ago I was at The Wall during summah, sitting in a car with a friend checking out the scene. Knee high waves crumbling on the rocky shore. Fairly crowded. A guy carrying a brand new 7'6" fun shape, with a brand new neon yellow on black wetsuitte walks across the street, heads over the wall, and down to the beach. I said to my friend, "I'll bet you a hundred dollars that guy does not know how to surf." Lucky for my friend he did not place the wager. The guy didn't even know how to paddle.
As a matter of fact, I was with a severely drug addled Masshole at the time. Like so many, he is no longer among us. His two brothers still are, I even call them the Moron Brothers. (They don't get along with others).
This whole area is having one hell of an infestation of heroin. I am hoping, if so, it is the surfers. Soon, there will be less of the morons....and mo' waves for me!! And yes, I stopped feeling sorry for them years ago. Sorry, but I just lost my patience with them.

most people surf to be seen, not actually catch waves. the wall is the perfect spot for that crowd...so it gets crowded.
That spot works best at high tide. Gets you closer to the wall so that the locals watching from up top can hear how hard you shred.

I mean foam ball barrels obviously. Also, its good to wear gloves to provide extra grip when I double grab the rails, to ride all the way to the wall. Sometimes I wear booties as well but only to protect my feet during high tide
