Holy Chit that was cool! The one that did the big cutback to fly out around the 18 sec mark was sick!!!
I got dropped in on by 4-5 dolphins once, pretty surreal sharing a party wave with them, they were so much better than me haha
I was fortunate enough to see two big dolphins share a wave a few years ago. Something I'll never forget.
I'm pretty sure I shared this story before... Three Decembers ago I was surfing by CB pier with four other folks. I was catching a shoulder and heading left when I caught site of a surfer in a gray hooded suit out of the corner of my eye. He had the peak and therefore priority so I backed off. It was a dolphin and he "surfed" right under me! Another time as I was paddling out I saw a dolphin catch a wave with one of my friends. He went right, the dolphin went left. My friend had know idea the dolphin was even there...
Surfing Mission Beach early mornings you can almost GUARANTEE a few waves with dolphins. It's pretty damn cool when there are more dolphins than dudes in the lineup. One time, during this summer a pod of 4 were straight up kicking it with me, hanging out near the peak, kind of waiting for a set. I ended up patting one on the back. Probably one of the coolest sessions.

Surfing Blacks Beach one summer day in the early 80's, perfect 2'-4' glassy barrels. Within an hour, a couple dozen dolphin (dolphins?) made their way into the South Peak lineup. Every takeoff had at least 1-3 "smile sharks" taking off in both directions, left and right. Another 5-10 minutes pass...the water is now filled with literally HUNDREDS of dolphins. I was getting cut off so hard, I thought their dorsals might cut into my rail...they were that close. Getting cut off by half a dozen on every single wave. I got a little spooked and headed to the beach, where I watched my buddy take off on a perfect glassy 4' Blacks right. I couldn't believe what I saw...I could not see one speck of ocean water on the wave face, all I could see was dozens and dozens of frantic dolphins surfing the wave's face while my buddy weaved his way through them. While this was going on, even more dozens were flying out of the backs and faces of other surrounding waves. Probably the most surreal moment I've ever had surfing.
Cool story, KR. ^^ And then you had to run past 'that guy' who was doing his Back Bay tunnel imitation there on the nudie beach at Black's. Because all of his stuff had been thrown in the water. And the dolphins were playing dress-up in it. Harsh way to end a superb sesh, man.
