+1...Sandy was a huge storm in size and eventually strength.

I don't know about the path though. I was at my parents in VA (looking out) and I remember uncertainty on the exact path as it approached us....once it was here, it was more clear that somewhere north of eastern shore was going to get hammered.

sandy itself wasn't really that big,but it morphed with a noreaster and went off the richter in size, and they had 100 different possible tracks.i havnt seen the track of the storm yet,but I could only hope we don't have a high pressure out at sea which will make the storm move inland.sandy also had that super full moon, making the high tide super deep.it was bad,if this storm does the same I may have to evacuate

ground is already way saturated and they're calling for 5-15 inches of rain worst case scenario....
tides are pretty high, storm surge will bad, getting ready now.

crossing my fingers it stays out to sea

When Sandy came up the coast , she made that left into the coast . That high pressure system had a big factor on her path . But I think the hudson trench had a bigger factor into the direction she finally took . All that warmer water coming out of the long island sound into the hudson trench made less resistance to fluctuation in , local atmospheric weather , water temp , humidity , etc. Kinda blocking it from wanting to go more north west . I think if you look at sandy's path She was kinda herded into nj . Thats what i noticed , not sure if its accurate tho .

Looks like today might be the only day to catch something in Rhodey or Maine. All blown out in MA/NH. Can this dude kick it a lil bit offshore? Doesn't matter. I'll be stoked at Point Conception for good within days.

A symptom of coast abandonner syndrome is forgetting about local wind conditions.

Hurricane Joaquin is broiling in the Atlantic Ocean, posing a critical threat to Cockburn Town.

    Finally, I'll get some relief...

Sand trajectories gonna be off the charts, bro. Watch out for the gullies. I imagine the scholl's will be treacherous as well.

Hello SI. Long time listener postin up. Had to add my two cents to this hurricane hype BRAHS!

What a load of crap. People's homes are in danger, and there wont be rideable surf except a waist high cleanup day, and fools are hyping it up. Stoked? More like stupid.

We didn't know for sure but its definitely good news. Off to the West Coast you go, adios and good riddance. Have fun claiming to your girlfriend while you're hiding out at Pacifica.
