Sorry brew the unemployment % you site is nowhere near reality....quite frankly nobody knows for sure. If you think less than 5% of working age adults are receiving gov't entitlements your not paying attention. I know you like facts and stats dude...not sure how you could get this so wrong. Look up the participation rate and how the gov't calculates the unemployment rate....it's a joke and every economist knows that 5% is not a real #.

I did not imply VA was part of defense...it is part of the president's discretionary spending to fund the department of VA....and this president has failed as have passed presidents in taking care of them....I was simply making a statement and showing appreciation. Which we agree on.

BTW, I never used the term Leach. I did acknowledge that if one can make a contribution to society and chooses to suck on the tit...well I just don't think that is right. Call them what you will.

^Complete bullsh*t. How many trillions have we spent since W invaded Iraq? Although, war is lucrative for the ones who pushed for it.

Why the fark does it matter whos system you look at if it's working ? Can we not learn from another country's success or failure? Are we so concieted that we could not except that maybe some other country might do something better than us?

A lot of Walmarts employees recieve aid because Walmart will not pay liveable wages to many of its employees. So the taxpayer picks up the bill so the Waltons can get richer. Merica.

Lazy Bro....have you heard of Brain Drain? Doctors from all over the world get their education in a "socialized country" with very low cost education and then they move to the US....due to capitalistic nature of our economy.

We don't have the best healthcare though. Why is that?

Speaking of capitalism....Sam Walton was a visionary. His model has been studies inside and out in many MBA programs. The Wallyworld employs over $2mm people in the US. They are an easy punching bag though...I mean what do they do for their very unskilled labor force? I bet you would say not enough. Where would they work otherwise? You think the mom/pop model could have handled that type population growth and pay $15+ an hour. There is a bunch of problems in out society with unskilled labor finding a job, which gets to the heart of the issue. I think Walmart as a whole has been unfairly demonized by the media (I know I will get plenty of feed back on this).

So where would the 2mm get jobs otherwise, what would they be doing, and how much would they be getting paid? McDonald's is another example....everybody wants a supervalue menu in life and get paid more. Pricing, Supply and Demand, Margins, and yes Profitability makes the world go round.

The alternative is a lack of innovation (by the private sector), a stifling world economy, and equality for all. Can you imagine all companies paying $20/hour and free health care?

This thread is turning out to be a breeding ground for hostility & negativity. I feel as if this type of topic is toxic for the forum and will only deter some from here.

Yeah I had that backwards the u6 no is more like twenty. The best thing the government can do is lower taxes and get the f outa the way. Stop spending like a drunken sailor. Get rid of the free trade laws and bring back tariffs. Then you will find a decent job with paid vacations. Socialism works until you run out of other people's money

Then prove it, with data. Saying no one knows is BS. The unemployment rate still has nothing to do with my point, and it was proven with data, that a millions of social benefit receiving Americans are part of the working class. I never said less than 5% of working age adults are using social programs. Here is a good article that actually dives into the data with explanations. http://www.politifact.com/punditfac...ere-more-welfare-recipients-us-full-time-wor/

The point remains that welfare isn't the big issue. A bigger issue is that too many working Americans still can't afford to live.

U6 is around 10%, not 20. You need to look this stuff up.

Go back and read what I said. It's the folks that don't contribute to society and milk the system that I have a problem with...not the working class.

To your data addiction...the labor force (see link), and the participation rate has everything to do with your point because people no longer looking for work are not included in the unemployment rate or the data you sited.

    http://unemploymentdata.com/unemployment-rate/real-unemployment-rate/

It's all good Brew. I hear you but the country is bleeding in debt and the only way (maybe not the only) is to tax the middle class and they provide too many votes to the politicos to go there.

Bottom line is ACA is a disaster and will cost tax payers tremendously.

ACA sucks compared to real socialized healthcare, but neither one will cost tax payers as much as the continuous wars.

C'mon Brew, admit it...even your analytically-trained brain has to know that every single bit of data (especially from the government) can be adjusted or fudged in favor of the beneficiary. You *know* that. And nowhere is this more true than the current administration's numbers on both unemployment and illegal immigration.

As they should not. Do you think that there are any existential threats to your way of life....nice cozy office chair, internet connection, access to all the data you need to form an opinion?

The US has gotten itself into some crappy situations....Vietnam and the Iraq war not withstanding. But, if you think for one second that if we let our guard down that you would be able to continue your way of life, then I could see why you are so against our defense budget. Hell, the whole idea of "America" and the "founding fathers" is jacked up but here we are (specifically how they treated/massacred the natives....it was going to happen one way or the other but it still sucks that is the foundation of our history....and I realize the history relative to the declaration and said massacres).

Socialized health care will not happen here in my life time (IMO), but you go ahead and vote for Bernie.
