And I'm sure these other fellers gave you proper advise as far as your knee...the only thing I could offer relates to meniscus.

From what he described, it was more on the front of the knee. Could be patellar related.

Then again, who the hell knows where exactly the impact or hyperextension was. He was getting spun in the drink. Kind of like the injury to Gronk last night. No telling by that film what the hell happened to his knee due to him being hit by two guys then hitting the ground and all that.

    Get. To. The. Doc.

He will give you the professional opinion. We can merely give you the opinion of professional amateurs.

You're ****ed up. Go to a GOOD orthopedic surgeon and get an MRI ASAP. You're dumb or maybe just young and don't know any better because you surfed on it again the SAME DAY. LOL.

eh it could be worse. gotta pay to play. Ortho says its probably just a torn MCL or something. Nothing a little beer and weed cant fix. He says 4-8 weeks as long as the MRI comes back with no ACL tears or meniscus problems.

Im thinking 2 weeks top, i heal quick.

We certainly will...man, that was a suniliarity moment...saw this dude backdoor a wave saturday, eat it in the barrel and prone it. reading your story made me remember it all awakenings like. Take care of that knee man I hope it's not too serious.

thanks emass, most legit advice on here minus the whale jizz comment.

Yea i went to an ortho today and he did the whole range of motion vs pain thing. I can still bend my knee all the way with excruciating pain, and have basically my whole range of motion with excruciating pain so he thinks that its nothing torn all the way through or broken.

Xrays came back clean, so he thinks its a "stage 1 MCL tear or sprain", basically the bottom of the barrel as far as these things go. He says i can get an mri if i want it, but its not necessary until the injury wears off and i start my physical therapy process. I think ill get one just to be safe, because despite how hard i push myself I always do my homework and take calculated risks instead of blindly charging.

He says recovery time for MCL is 4-6-8 weeks depending on a multitude of different things, but he says oncee i can do my whole range of motion without pain i should be good.

ACL and meniscus can be up to 6 months, so im hoping my MRI comes clean.

Regardless, im going back in the drink once my knee feels better and i can start up my twice a day yoga/strengthing practice again for my slipped disks.

Im thinking 2 weeks, well see if im right.

i donno man when i got 4 slipped disks last year a doctor said id never be able to surf or fight fire again and up and till now ive been charging both harder then ever, from the day he said it. Strong mind yields strong body. R and R is a must, and is much needed. The past few weeks ive been surfing 3-4 times a week from sun up to sun down with no breaks in between when its good (average session length 6-10 hours straight 1 20 minute break for lunch or to change spots).

I can use a few cold ones and a few week long nap.

i fight wildfires for 6 months, get my money and live off it and surf/travel for the other 6 months.

This past month i have been in New England cause i got to take care of my mom dealing with some family stuff, so ive been making tactical runs between jersey and maine depending on the conditions.

2 weeks if you heat the whale jiz to 89.3 degrees and apply it during a full moon.

cause i grew up in connecticut, and i always saw long island across the dismally flat long island sound. I always hated it because I viewed it as them stealin all of connecticuts waves. Connecticut has a GREAT coastline topography wise for surfing with many points reefs and shoals, but no swell because of long island.

With the offshore north winds, and decent swell last weekend i thought It would be good there. It was ok. But i guess long island got the last laugh against this Connecticutian because it answered my years of fantasizing it not being there with blowing out my knee on my first real surf trip there. Karma's a *****

    Good question, LR, good question.

Now for those who have seen Back to School just imagine me as Sam Kinison screaming, " Good answer...good answer.." But "Good question...good question."

Ah Motrin. Man truck that. Go get a second opinion. Tell them you need Opanas. As high a mg as they'll give you.
