Located on long island. If anyone is looking to unload a soft top pm me. I am interested in the cbc 5'8" fish i saw one for a reasonable price but want some feedback. Ive rented 8' wavestorms and love them, but rental rates are outweighing the cost of bringing one on a plane. It will be used by groms n gromettes.
The boards you speak of are totally alien to me--never heard of them. As for plane rates, Jetblue is still reasonable....$50 each way. I am going to CR soon, and yet, I cannot make up my mind to bring my Byrne travel board or rent (I am getting lazy).
They like to let you think it will be only $50 each way for your board. Then you get there and they raise up the price, which is when I raise a stink. I had to do this in PR last year on my way home. Price of my boards doubled on the way home so I made a fuss at 5:30 am until they fixed it. Going back to Rincon at the end of the month. I will probly just rent this year. Will be much easier than packing and unpacking and hoping for waves.
So far that has not happened to me. I forfeited going to PR this winter (so far), and I am glad I did--the surf has been absolutely abysmal, none really. Just a couple of shoulder high days. As we have not have any cold fronts coming down here to date, PR seems to remain flat for the next 1-14 days anyway. Do some extended forecasting before you go.
Jetblue is reasonable its the rentals that are getting out of hand. Especially since they would rather do daily rentals because they make a lot more money that way. I spent $160 for 3 weeks from green room. He was the cheapest even beat out our go to guy at sandy/marias beach. For years we rented from them but we never went during school break. I also figure it would be better to have as a cushion on the bottom of my coffin. After seeing john johns mangled mess and what jetblues policy is regarding damaged boards.
