No problem Yankee Doodle dandy...in the past 20 years...use to be in town, then moved to op...now here and much prefer this locale over those 2. Not sure I got it made but am fortunate. Wish I could get to a mountain during the winter without a 4 + hour drive.
Grew up on an Island with a draw bridge as the only road on/off. Sat in traffic quite a few times due to some ahole motoring his sailboat through the cut at flippin' rush hour. I've seen Muffy get pelted with eggs and no one would admit to seeing anything. Miss the old days before cameras.
Agree...would love to have a place right on the beach at some decent consistent surf...maybe a house at pipe..dreaming...Jealous of those guys blocks away to decent surf...I think that's a distance I could handle.
lol u named it but I'm not claiming which one.sucks I actually moved to this slum lol.atleast I'm close to the beach, thats all that matters. 10 minutes from my house, those in the know, know lol.thats why I was saying that's ur only glimpse u get of the waves going over that bridge,go right or go left, usually smaller in sea bright, the hook can hold some pretty big swells
About 17 to 24 miles, depending on which spot I hit. Takes anywhere from 22 minutes up, depending on traffic (none at first light ). Not too bad, enough time for a cup o' joe and a pre-DP snack on the way.
Cep... I go over that little span in the pic every day, at least twice a day... straight up Ocean Ave from MB to Fort Hancock. Sometimes I stop right at the top and watch for a few minutes if nobody's behind me before heading into work. If you're gonna turn right, you might as well go all the way to LA.
yup that's how it is,i also have to look in my rear views as I'm driving away to see how the waves still look.i had a really good job in long branch a few years ago until I got laid off,it was on chealsea ave towards ocean ave, like 3 blocks from the beach.the boss used to let me leave a board in the shop.but id drive down 36 the whole way and get some of those days were it pumps for 2 hours and nobody else knows about it lol
lbcrew, wheres fort hancock,i don't know if that's the one in shrewsbury or the little naval station with the long azz jetty near belford
Holy sh!t! I didn't know that spot breaks? When I left it was completely unsurfable after all that sand was dumped on it. We used to call that spot sewers because of the runoff pipe that spilled out there. Btw I had some fun times as an urchin in the slums of Port Monmouth when I wasnt getting beat up or doing the beating up.
20 mins to one beach 25 to another within an hour iam either in the city or in montauk with traffic any of those times can be an hour more
3hrs 10 min to The-Place-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named. 2:20 to the North Shore. Lots of day trips this year. Name of the game: Try Not to Get Skunked! Only really got skunked twice.
lol I'm fukin retarded, fort Hancock is sandy hook right lol it just came to me.i don't know how its breaking down in lb,last I was over there they replenished it and messed everything up,havnt been back since.the sands perfect near me right now,no need to drive anywhere else.
well the turnpike runs right through my town and they recently raised the speed limit to 70 so i can make it to the ocean in a little less than 3 hours.....but my go to spot is about 3hr 10 mins......I am very blessed cuz i can wake up in the morning drive, surf, drive and still make it back to my bed at the end of the day if I lived much farther away this would not be possible......when i was a grom i lived a 1/2 block from beach and pretty much took it for granted every day that i lived there so if your a 12 year old kid that surfs and lives by the beach thank your higher power and surf every chance you get and if your parents tell you that your moving to central PA run away and just be a homeless child that surfs (no I'm not still bitter about that)
