On the Tre(s) thing....I always wondered about the 3 tree thing...I even have a T shirt from a couple of trips back that I got that says Tres Palms with 3 trees.

    So which is it?

I will re-state the break has been known as Tres Palmas since at least 1965, which is when I first heard of it. Why it was called that i do not know. Maybe 3 palm trees crossed referenced visually to mark the take off point. That, in the days of no leashes, may have been much more important than today. Trees die; others take their place. So nothing remains the same.
Additionally, the other morons above are just that; I suggest you dismiss their imbecilities. They add nothing to anybody's knowledge base. Mine comes from having grown up on those beaches, along long time ago....

I'm a short bicycle ride from several good breaks. When I was about 13 I made it a life goal to live as close as I could to my favorite surf spot. At 24 years old I pulled it off and bought a house just a few blocks back on the same street.

If you are talking about natives... a lot!! I went to school in PR with many smart native people, many of whom have become lawyers, MDs, professors, and successful businessmen.

I can only go back to the late80s on identifying it as "Tres". Never heard otherwise until today.

As for smart PRs...what the hell are they doing with their debt? It's not pretty that is fo sho!

True, but we can also ask, "what are WE doing with OUR debt?", right?? Answer: Politicians.
Trust me--there are a lot of intelligent natives on that island.

The house is still there I'm just in FL for work. Ocean View and it's surrounding areas are pretty much ghost towns in the off-months though. Maybe I'll retire at the ripe age of 30 when I make my first mil and move back to settle down :)
