I would like some feed back on a website I am trying to get going that connects surfers with photographers. Basically, surfers can go and select their location and date and browse to see if any photos of them were uploaded and the surf photographers can upload their picture and water marks.

I'd really like to know what everyone thinks! Good or bad feedback is appreciated :)

I just got the idea cause I always wish I had some good shots especially when it's pumping and none of my friends want to take pictures. Anyway check it out if you'd like and let me know what you think or if it makes sense at all.

    Thanks!

Cool idea prepare for hate tho since this is your first post. Also there's a lot more right coasters here so just having Oregon and California ain't really helping us.

I like this idea, but obviously here, you need to aim at more east coast reps.(photogs). SI is a good start...good luck.

    Dear Mr hiwaves,

I noticed that your new here and still a junior member.

I like your ideas- but have you considered starting a hello thread to properly introduce yourself? NOW THATS A GOOD IDEA!! Actually it's kinda a right of passage around here. You know- tell us all about yourself- your favorite surfing bort- you fav surf bort riding spot- what part of surfing season you like the best- your fav color... Then also post a pic of your dog for meTard (he always used to request that for some reason)

It is a good idea tho- really I remember looking through all these pics on Surfline then found one out of like hundreds of yours truely- mr Belmar- it was a lot of work. So I like the idea- but if you really want to do it right, start a hello thread to get into the swellinfo crew- or else everyone will start to turn on you ... You know... Basically rebellion and mutiny

After checking your site I happen to have a great suggestion:

Rather then having all these surf spots around the world (that's a lot of work posting pics for every surf spot) why not just have one surf spot- that's right, just one surf spot- make sure it's the best surf spot in the world (Belmar,NJ) then just post only pics of Belmar NJ for all to see.

abstract: metards brief history of photography and why whatever you do with a camera you will end up feeling like you sucked d!ck at a truck stop for two dollars if you try to make photography a profession.

1800-1960 photography was difficult, the process cumbersome and kinda expensive.

1960-2000 photography (quality wise) got a lot better. however, improvements in technology allowed most everyone to get a camera with crap quality.

2000 and on photography spirals into two distinct branches that nobody outside of photography gives a fvck about. branch 1: wormy old guys that were around when film and prints were cool who will complain about every other photographers work. branch 2: digital guys who can press click a zillion times and not have to worry about a missed shot (r. mack et al). both roads lead to a place where nobody respects the work and nobody wants it. because why have pictures when you could have video. why pay someone when an iPhone and Instagram filters can make the sh!tty pics look cool.

hope I saved you from that feeling of eating d!cks

Thanks for the feedback! And cool I will do a late "hello" post to introduce myself I didn't know that was the norm.

And also yah that is a really good suggestion! My hope is thought other people will upload pictures from different spots. That was if some photographer shoots an pic of you getting spit out you can check and see! So it's not really just my photos but "hopefully" lots of peoples photos. I am pretty curious about going to Belmar now though.
