Dude just grab a plane ticket to cali its firing in those months. I mean its a hell of a lot better surfing in board shorts somewhere tropical, but SoCal goes off in some spots. Yea i know, its a vacation, not a trip to another crowded spot with pros out everywhere... SO I recommend mexico. As long as you're cool with what could happen to you in Mex, it has nuts breaks in Oaxaca all over. Later or earlier in that time frame would be best for you

I dunno. Tickets are cheap right now. My buddy just flew back to JFK from SAN, non-stop, for $147 after tax.
You can find places on Air bnb for less than $80/night and be close enough to walk to the beach.

I dont know why im trying to get more people in the water out here.... Central America is Def cheaper...
