    nice work. two questions:

Is the new red pin line on top of the sanded hotcoat? Still to get a gloss coat?

How did you get the blue-ish color in the deck patch?

Again - great stuff...I'm getting ready to post pictures of a board I recently shaped and glassed.

I'm glad to see you taped over the futures box slots before glassing. For 30 odd boards I've done the same thing.

Last board, I forgot to tape the slots and glassed the bottom of the board right over the top of five OPEN futures boxes. Realized my error halfway through glassing when I was looking right though wetted cloth into five fin slots and five set screw holes.

I learned that yelling inside a respirator fogs it up. Fast.

I finished the lamination, hotcoating, sanding and chipped out all of the resin, and had to retap three of the set screw holes that resin had drained down. Saved it.

Good stuff dude, I've never tried building a surfbort but love learning about the process. I keep telling myself I'll give it a go one day.

Nice. I can only imagine the terror, I've glassed in one single-fin box in my life, and thankfully that went pretty well.

Measure twice, cut once ... beware the false confidence of the jig.

Still, congrats on powering through. Board is looking pretty cool.

A couple of tips. Use clay in the screw holes. Install center fin box after laminating and hot coat. Most importantly, work neatly.

If you use clay in the screw holes (I use plumber's putty), completely remove the grub screws first.

For a clean finish, only glass over pre-glass boxes, and never install post-glass boxes on the foam or on the lam... only over unsanded hotcoat. Tape off box opening prior to gloss, and leave the tape on until after sand/polish. Nine times out of ten you'll be down to it when you're done.

Pre-glass anything beats post glass installs, IMO.
