    Hey Guys,
MR. B here, I've been meaning to post this for a few days now.

Every time I'm surfing with other people (family and friends) I always make a point to take a look at how they've attached their leash to make sure it's done propere. A lot of people get into trouble on big days (cause they cant swim) due to leashes detaching and not performing proper sand reconne.

Well, I check everyone else's leashes, but they don't ever check mine. SO in response to DP recent 'state of the union' threade- I'm going to start a threade about ways to temporally fix your leash in a pinch for a short time... Or if your just cheap like me and don't want to buy a new one.

Please check this. Is it proper? Will it hold? Please note the zip ties holding it together. I've used it many times without detachment and swimming. It's for a longboard- so I really don't rely on the leash so maybe that's why it's lasted...

    Your pal
    Mr Belmar

why surf if you can't swim that well? usually i don't even bring out a leash on my longboard because it kind of trips you up

that leash pic you have here looks OK to me, if you're worried about it maybe buy a new leash?

just saying, swimming after your board sucks and everything, but its gotta suck that much more if you can't swim. by all means wear your leash if you want to, i don't care, sometimes you don't feel like swimming. but i find that most times when my leash comes undone its because the velcro isn't sticking right, only sometimes does the leash tie or plug have an issue.

don't tell me you've never gotten annoyed with your leash while longboarding

    Mathlete,

This thread is kind of tongue and cheek, combining several other joke threads. Frost & Brad Pitted are some forumme gold posters that this is reefering to...
Longboard leashes are a pain in the arse... I use them when losing a board isn't an option. I was just messin' with ya...

This is maybe a better picture of the leashe repaire:
    image.jpg

I cut a hole thru the fabric on the rail saver with my Kershaw knife. Then I threaded zip ties thru.

    Is this a proper repaire?

Will it hold at the Belmar?

Will I be swimming? Shall I take adult swim lessons, is it worth it? or should I just perform proper sand reconne?

    Dear Mr. Belmar,
From all of us here at the SI forum I would like to bestow upon you this gratuitous PHD
in leash attachment and all things relevant .Your never ending quest to make surfers and surfing safer for everyone has captured national attention and the hearts of millions around the world.

Please accept this humble award and don't forget to throw someones $hit in the water when they refuse to learn the proper knot tying techniques.

    Dear Mr Antoine,

Wow, I am truely honored and humbled to say the least.

You know my commitment to Swellinfo and the safety of the people, specially those who have never learned to properly tie a knot on thier leash. And those who surf, but can't swim. They usually end up with there stuff thrown in the water...

Special Thanks to you Antoine and the swellinfo constintent

    Your truely
    Mr Belmar PH.D.

Question, I don't have zip ties, are twist ties a suiteable alternative? I'm not surfing Belmar, so I'm guessing yes however I always defer to a dr's opinione.

It's my opium that you should always use parachute cord tied with a proper sheep shank knot attaching cord to duct taped reinforced Velcro. Which of coarse should be wrapped snugly around the calf. Now, for proper cord attachment to board, that's simple....utilize the very realizable mini carabiner hook (must be stainless steel)!

Come on guys...quit over thinking this

I like the carabiner idea... affixed to one's ear gauge so you don't have to fumble around down at your feet in case of an emergency.
