Um, we don't actually have borders. 5,000 open miles of border to the north, and 2,000 open miles to the south.

I know I'm beating this thread to a pulp, no surf and all, but I still do not know how we stop Muslims from entering our country, say at JFK for example. Muslim flies in from Brussels with a Belgium passport.

Customs Agent: "Are you a muslim?"
Muslim dude: "Ah, no sir, I am *not* a muslim."
Customs Agent: "Thanks, and have a nice visit".

Damn, we just let a muslim through.

Ok, I can go with that, we've been dealing with this for the past 68 years. I still don't understand the sudden knee-jerk reaction?

Come on Cuda..... call Obama? Call him a traitor..... He's the reason we look weak to the rest of the world. Castro just told him to F-off and he still sucks up. What would you do if he just dropped in and cut you off..... hug and sing cumbaya.... I don't think so. Here on the redneck riviera, we never leave home without it, a gun that is. Many of us were drafted during vietnam war. The surf sucked there, but we did what we had to do. Many of my friends (58,000) never came back to sit in the line up. But we all understood the second amendment to the Constitution where it says... Shall not be infringed.

My first value is self-preservation. So is yours.
Without that, the rest is sanctimonious bullsheit headed for suicide.

Muslims have taken Americans and others hostage since the late 1700's That's why the United States built a navy to put a stop to the killing and enslavement by middle eastern powers in Tripoli, Algiers and Morocco in the Mediterranean Sea. Before that they killed pilgrims to the Holy Land and brought about the Knights Templar to protect Christians on these pilgrimages. These people are in direct defiance with what we hold as god given rights
of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. They rape children and kill women and the god they follow is obviously a murderous queer pedophile.

And you will surrender and accept the new group as well?
What if they secure a nuclear weapon? Do you really believe they will NOT use it agains the West??
Guaranteed North Korea will love to provide them with one. And that if iran doesn't provide them with one first, having been manufactured with the funds Ovomit provided them.
Your good intentions are very nice, but, as a famous American once said, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions!"

Oh, I'm supposed to sit outside of the break and wait my turn, I can respect that, peace bro. I've always been a loner... aren't we all. Isn't that why we surf. One on one with the wave. Isn't that why we paddle into 15 foot surf?
Simply to stare down our own fear.

You have a bit of potential, William. As DP-SUP advises, throw your leashe in the ringe with that all-importante intro tread. Along with pics showing your of-age female relatives (that one was for cepriano).

No offense taken. Raised Catholic with a good relationship to the church, thorough non-believer for my adult life. I probably share your 'American' values and backgrounds more than you imagine.

I just live in a place where there are people from all over the world. I've travelled a decent amount. And I find that most of the characterizations of Muslims on this forum are small-minded at best, and ethnically biased at worst.

Trust me, I would rather not comment on these things at all. I would rather not see them on this forum, at all. I don't start political threads. But when people start getting into a 'lets round them all up' kind of mood, I take notice. Historically, that has been the precursor to many horrible things.

Personally, I believe that worshipping a religion in which people murder others for making cartoons is downright idiotic. But I also believe that worshipping a religion that encourages the spread of HIV is idiotic (Catholic prohibition of condoms, Africa).

MIS is right; the murder and insanity is, unfortunately, nothing new at all. Terrorism is not new, and the vast majority of domestic U.S. terrorism has not been committed in the name of Islam (See A Timeline of Domestic U.S. Terrorism).

The bombings in Pakistan are nothing new. The only reason you care, or know, is because the media covered it en masse, so they could capitalize on the ad-selling power of a more recent attack in Europe. Taliban have been murdering in Pakistan for quite some time now; thousands of people die in suicide bombings there every year. I don't recall you posting about that. Boko Haram killed more people last year than ISIS, I don't hear you calling for a ban on Nigerian immigration (Wall Street Journal).

I'm not saying Islamic terrorism isn't a crucial global problem; quite obviously it is. But it's extremely tough to solve. Give weapons to moderates? They fight amongst themselves, or lose, and the weapons fall into the hands of extremists. Want to send our troops into Syria to stop ISIS? Well there's Russian and Iranian troops there too. Is annihilating ISIS worth having WW3? No. So maybe we could just send troops into Iraq, to better support their forces against ISIS? Ah, the very forces we created and supplied, after ousting an iron-fisted dictator who never would have allowed ISIS to exist in the first place.

Unless you're willing to have WW3 and basically make Syria, Iraq, and Nigeria the 51st, 52nd, and 53rd states, there's no straightforward solution here.

That feeling you get when you hear about the Americans murdered in Belgium is the same feeling an Iraqi child gets when his brother is blown up by an American bomb. Now, he has a right to indulge in his hatred as much as you do. But do you want him to assume that all Americans are evil, because of their complicity in the murder of his family?

Should you really be assuming that all Muslims are complicit in terror attacks, because they didn't somehow stop them?

This is difficult, complicated, tragic, f*cked up sh*t. Jumping to hateful conclusions will get us nowhere. It has never led to anything good.

Oh please. If America ever falls apart as a country, the nation's eroding values will have precipitated said fall not the other way around as you indicate. Secondly, this nation has altered its values time & time again, and we're hangin' in there. Third, it's when people who are hellbent on the destruction of others based upon the newcomers ideology that the cultural erosion becomes exponential.

    yea, that's what I said.

    Step 1: eroding values.
Step 2: nation splinters, and falls apart.

Heard this from a British guy: Obama is the Neville Chamberlain of our day, and proof that history repeats itself.

Also thanked us for taking over the job as world police, said they were glad to quit that job.

Another gem..."British Empire didn't fall, the taxpayers just got tired of paying for it".

    Sharp guy IMHO.

There are no easy answers...no matter what course we take in the "war on terror", there will be downsides and casualties. Unless you and everybody else wants to empty your pockets (taxes) to chase these pricks down all over the planet...how many are willing to do that?

The US can't do it alone. "Superpower" does not equal "unlimited resources", and we're already in massive debt. And the rest of the world doesn't have the will to do it with us. Needs to be a collective effort from ALL the major AND minor powers to put the stamp on 'em. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I expect things to continue as they are....and as they've been.

Man, you guys have a ton of time on your hands for this deepish thread.

Slash I think Boko Haram is AKA "Islamic State" of West Africa.

This is a tough issue for sure. I can't imagine actually shutting down all immigration to US based on Muslim Beliefs. I do believe that we need to tighten up out entry based on the rules already on the books and do more thorough background communication with Immigration/CIA.

It does not matter if they are called ISIS or Al Qaeda or Boko Haram....their missions are not mutually exclusive.

Sigmoney, "Values" is a funny thing. Whether from our founding father's perspective to today or right here within this surf forum. I can't believe they (founding fathers) ever imagined suicide bombers here on our shores. Something needs to be done to stop it. But, our values have been eroding away for a long time. We have "progressed" very much so in recent decades and some would view a "losing values". Or, how about our national debt....we are certainly hurting in that dept.

The threat of terrorism here and comparing to the threat of getting shot or gun violence is absurd. Most Terrorist's missions are congruent. Most gun violence occurs on an independent basis.

I honestly don't think we are going to be able to contain it (Radical Islamic Extremism), especially with technology on their side to remain recluse until they want FUBAR.

I'm just glad we're having a civil discussion about a not so civil topic. These are the discussions we as Americans should be having. We may not all agree on everything, but one thing we all have in common is a love for our Country, as f'ed up as it can be, it's still the best Nation in the world, and for that, i'm grateful to be a citizen and in a good spot in life. But it can all come to an end if we don't stick together as countrymen.

I keep seeing you guys write , "this is complicated" or similar. No, it is not. It is if you choose to make it so.
The solution is easy, however, very violent. It is along the thought that you cut off the snakes head.
We did it with Japan to end WWII. They now are our best friends. The solution is to make all muslims our best friends.
Two targets: 1)Tehran, and 2) that area dominated by ISIS.

    It ends there.

When the human race excepts logical thinking and the humans stop "passing on" the nonsense that is religion to their offspring is the only way I see possible to MAKE IT STOP

I mean I'd thoroughly enjoy lubing the loins of a Muslim women with bacon grease as I would taking the virginity of a devout Christian women and impregnating her whilst she sleep...kinda like the story of Jesus

Death to religion...Hail Satan...Shred the Gnar bruhz

I think it's different though. You cut off the head and nine grow back. Many snake heads if you will....from that stand point, it will be very difficult to "wipe them out". Look what happened when we pulled out of Iraq. I believe this will be a way of life for the next 100 years and beyond (assuming no nuke war, then all bets are )
