    Fine Folks of Swellinfo,

I need some advice and have been informed that Swellinfo offers advice on a wide range of topics. I'll be building a rack setup for my old man's house in the next few months and was wondering if anyone has a good setup that they'd like to share. Mine has to be setup for horizontal board storage due to ceiling height v. board height. Would like it to be freestanding to allow flexibility to move it around.

Anyways, if anyone has a nice setup let's see it.

I have a nice set up; built it my self. And it is on wheels, so I can roll it around the basement. It holds 8 boards, 4 on each side of an low A-frame.
But I ain't gonna share with you. Just picture a bomb loading wagon under a fighter jet on an aircraft carrier.

    Buy 2 - 4' long 2"x4"s
Buy 1 or 2 round wood dowels (1-1/2"), and cut down 18"-20" long pieces.

Buy a 1-1/2" Boring blade - Go about half way into the 2x4's, every foot or so.
I used wood glue to set the dowels in the whole's, then used a screw to secure from the back.
After all of the dowels are set, screw into the wall.

Aight Barry, that sounds like what I'm after. Having it on wheels is a nice touch.

Thanks Scobey. That's the setup I have at my place but the old man doesn't want anything set in the walls.

Exactly ^^^ Simple and effective. No need for wheels.

got a vertical board rack that holds 5-6 boards and a horizontal that holds 8+
personally like the vertical one more but for the horizontal one:

    - 1-2 2x4's
    - 2-3 18x1in dowels
    - carpet/ rug/ or rubber matting material. I bought the rubber mats most mechanics use when they gotta get on their knees...

-drill holes same size as dowels through the wood. i do one dowel for every two boards.
-cut dowels in pieces depending on how many boards
-nail the 2x4's around titty height horizontally and shove that wood into those holes
-lay your mat down and your done

its super easy took about 2 hours

Time out. Where did you come from? Are you a chick? I'd remember that screen name, yet you have 590 posts and I don't remember one. Have you changed your screen name from something we all know and hate?
