HAHA, I'm trying to be smart about it, not doing anything too crazy, just some exercise between sessions
Definitely (regarding technique), my wife got me a pair of those weighted MMA gloves for Xmas and some hand wraps, it's nice to be hitting a bag again, it's been a while. Great stress reliever too
Yesterday was one o the better days in VB in the last few months. surfed until it was pitch black dark outside. only regret is I wish I got out sooner. Still some good ones for VB.
It's nice to have sand back. This week has been kinda meh, but better than not surfing. Solo sessions. Waist-to-shoulder high. Textured but not blown. Rare barrels. Lots of dolphins around.
The 3-month long conveyor belt of 20+ ft storms pretty much scoured the jetties and bars around here. Surf is suffering pretty badly here.
This morning in Ocean City Maryland was so frustrating. At 8 a.m. we paddled out into what looked like potentially an amazing session. Head high to a bit overhead sets, glassy conditions with light offshores, and high tide giving the shallow sandbars plenty of water to make the barreling waves taper out onto makeable shoulders. First two waves were so nice...roll in drops to a nice racy wall that wasn't sucking up off the sandbar at all. Then around 9 the wind first puffed south, then went stiff NW, the tide started dropping fast and the waves started getting ledgy, tough to drop into, with shoulders that just seemed to suck the sandbar dry. Got punished for the last hour.
Yeah, my morning was frustrating, too. Left the crib at 4:30am and headed to Columbia, SC for a wedding. Nice little 10 hour drive
Had a long day at work yesterday and missed it. Got out this afternoon off Dam Neck but nothing noteworthy.
Big yesterday, beach breaks were mostly shut down, which left the points as the only surfable option with big crowds, but damn fun when you got one. This morning was OH and perfect.
You shudda been there Friday afternoon when winds went west for awhile; twice as big as Saturday and nobody around. Getting shacked was a common experience. Made it out a few; got hammered by a few. Went out Saturday AM as well (usually I leave weekends for those employed); nice but smaller, but still with some juice.
Yep, that's what I said, 'yesterday' was Friday afternoon, when I posted yesterday which was saturday, see?
Surfed on Saturday, still cold & still not a fan of bulky gear cold water surfing but I had to get back water. Cheers to all you winter warriors!!!
I was down in PJ late morning, got a few rides but conditions were definitely better earlier. After 5/6 month hiatus I didn't mind the mellow swell & smaller crowds to re-learn how to surf practically ha
I just want to say the surf has been really really fun lately, getting two a day sessions now and the quality and quantity has been there. Nothing epic, just lots and lots of fun waves. It doesn't get much better than Spring and Fall, Winter is awesome in it's own right, but i'll take the warmer temps and consistent surf any day.
DP, straight up, you have no right to talk about warmer temps haha. and I'm below the Mason-Dixon Line
