As a classically trained pianist this thread tickles my pickle....

As far as relaxing, for the most part Chopin and Beethoven have a lot to offer....

The obvious ones I can think of are:
Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata 1st Movement (maybe the 2nd too)(the 3rd is all facemelting speed, I love it but not really soothing lol)
    Beethoven - The Appassionata Sonata
Chopin - any of his nocturnes are very relaxing and beautifully written
Mozart - Sonata #13 in B flat major, K333 (one of my favorite to play)
    Mozart - Sonata #12 in F major, K332 Adagio
Mozart - Requiem in D minor K626 *especially Lacrimosa (the last piece ever written by Mozart and probably on3 the greatest pieces of music ever written imho. He actually didn't even get to finish it. If you have never seen Amadeus, do yourself a favor and watch it.

This is just a start, if you want more I've got plenty. Sorry everyone for geeking out on the classical for a minute, but I love that sh1t!

I like to listen to these guys at work with the head phones on, good P Floyd type instrumentals.

This actually made me laugh out loud, kudos. No worries on the tunes, I'm down to talk classical anytime. That list is just highlights from the Classical era. You want to talk Romantic era, there is a TON more for you to choose from.

This thread rocks. I'll add another. Emancipator has been my go-to for years when it comes to travel, relaxtion and anything in between. All their albums are instrumental (for the most-part) and truly unique. ENJOY

Right on man. I'm a metal head for life but I listen to anything and everything. After all, if Mozart or Beethoven had Marshall Amps and Les Paul's back then metal would have been born a long time ago.

We played that at our wedding. It (along with tunes like SOAD's "Chop Suey") is one of "our" songs. To this day if we stumble upon somebody playing a piano (like a hotel lobby or sumthin') I always go over and see if they can play it, and float 'em some cash if they can. Always makes the wife go girly giggly. Plus I'm pretty much guaranteed happy happy fun time that night.

Yeah, I'm still a pig at heart. But I'm a happy pig. What can I say? OINK OINK!

Are you guys referencing the 1st movement? Only ask because it is said that, Beethoven, was inspired to compose the piece by his love for his 17 year old pupil....when he was 32. Also funny, because my wife hates when I play this lol, says it makes her sooo sad.

Now she does love when I play this (although I can only play it well at about 80% this speed)...this sh1t makes my hair stand up.

Makes me wonder what about this chick made him compose the 3rd movement....

First time I tripped on the A i mellowed out to some Opiate by tool...not quite as mellow

My friend who had a little more experience with the substance but wasn't partaking quickly corrected and put on Beck's mellow gold instead...speaking of which, beck has some good mellow stuff

Coltrane's blue train is solid too

Gaffer I had a feeling I'd see you here. I will check into those Brahms lullabys(-ies?) for sure. Until recently I didn't know about all these lullaby versions, but I found some GD ones too.

    Meow.

YP I fkn love Mellow Gold!

Thanks to all who chimed in, I'll be returning to this thread for reference until I get through all of it.
