'Adagio for Strings' by Samuel Barber; been recorded a ton, and there are notable variations. 'The Lark Ascending' by Vaughan Williams. Stunningly sublime. Vivaldi 'Appalachian Spring' by Aaron Copland 'Kind of Blue' by Miles All-time favorite: 'Porgy and Bess' by Miles Davis, Gil Evans I know that perhaps a movie soundtrack doesn't really qualify, but the music from 'Road to Perdition' by Thomas Newman gets me every time. You guys have posted really good lists. Nice tread, OP herrrrrmannnnnno!
Big JS Bach fan here, piano and organ...especially "Joy", one of my all-time favs. And pretty much anything from Mozart.
Same with me on the JS Bach. Listen to his Double violin Concerto in Dminor. It is awesome. And if you do listen to it----crank it up loud!! Blow out the windows!!
Gave this some more thought. Some of the most trippy classic stuff for all time would have to be, Jefferson Airplane and The Moody Blues. I don't know if this is along the lines of music your looking for but is definitely music to chill by. There might be some piano in there somewhere.
1/4 Cask, mon ami, & we toast the rare greatnesses who keep the human virus from being a complete plague upon this earth
Arigato, mon frere. You have enlightened me! Can honestly say that awesome blends from The Land of the Rising Sun does not occur in my single-track brain when I'm thinking 'hmmmm, time to re-stock the larder.' Good to hear that your taste buds reveled in the peat bogs. I will seek out the Hibiki at next opps mission
You're welcome. Can't be a true renaissance man without experiencing all life has to offer. And though I think one of the keys to life is balance, that also means that sometimes moderation needs to take a hike and excess needs to step to the front. For how can one be balanced if they aren't unbalanced from time to time? I pity those that can't revel in the irony and paradox of life.
This whole thread is great. Don't know much about classical music but its on in my work truck and my shop all the time. Couldn't tell Bach from Mozart but it all seems to have a good effect on the day. Off topic but you guys brought up whiskeys. I've had some good ones. But really, are there bad ones? Or is it just that there are better ones. And how do you know whats better if you haven't tried the lesser? Found myself drinking Dewars from the bottle in a brown bag last weekend. Granted the evening started with a good steak followed by a few fingers of Redbreast neat. But Redbreast doesn't fit in a brown bag if you get my drift and Dewars is the drink of my Father. And you can't forget the face of your Father.
can never go wrong with this jam. from road trippin' to relaxing, I always can listen to this one.
Yes there are definitely bad whiskeys, but they are usually just cheap. In general any higher end whiskey is going to be "good", it's more a matter of personal taste. I like the sweeter, mellower Bourbons (Elijah Craig reserve is my fav) and the sweeter, more mellow Scotch (McCallan is my choice for price\quality). But I have friends that love a Scotch that tastes (to me) like charcoal and dirt. And I have friends who like a Bourbon that kicks like a mule. It's kinda like borts, one man's pleasure is another man's pain. The fun part is the same too, ya just gotta pony up, buy it, and try it. Or if you're lucky know someone who has a well stocked quiver I mean larder you can sample.

Don't be fatuous, Seldom. It's more of a afro/cuban thing. But it will enhance the chances of conception. You know coitus. Both downtown man and women parts get silly when hearing it. And not understanding the lyrics is calming because it just becomes part of music. You'll be calmer than you are now anyway. beats listening to Speed of Sound.
