Gotta love being on it when it happens though, I'm sure there's one more decent swell that will hit before real Summer flatness kicks in, went for a jog this morning, so you know it's getting close

Definitely grateful for getting yesterday's unexpected gift and it was a gorgeous evening as well. I'm not ready to drag out the snorkling gear just yet though.

There's been a wee tiny swell all morning buried beneath the high tide. We may have something to surf later after all. Secret spot fer sure.

The swell has been coming in at a pretty extreme angle on Long Island too. It seems to be an extreme tidal swing as well I caught it close to high in the afternoon. Waist high, real close to shore but I found an indent on the beach like a little cove. I was sitting yards from shore but it was chest deep before it jumped to knee deep. I could paddle in get a little sandy barrel and shoot out into ankle deep water. Had to crouch but I saw the eye and everything. Love that growling sound it throws over your shoulder. I still have sand in my hair.

Delmarva cleaned up nicely this afternoon...disorganized but clean surface texture and a-framing, and cold. I'll take it for Friday after work!

I surfed like the kookiest kook that ever kooked on a surfboard. At least those guys got on their feet.

    1. Don't forget the hood next time.

    2. Too early to break out the fish.

What a waste of some actually halfway decent surf...

mitchell, great pics. Props for consistently posting good shots of surf where you are. I always take my phone but never bother to take it out and snap a few.

Caught vee bee super glassy for about two hours around lunch today. best part was the first hour and a half I was the only one out. Solid waist high with the occasional chest high set. No wind, most waves were crumbly, but it was glassy to the point of being like an oil slick. Super fun. Wasn't even bad when three others showed up for the last 45 minutes or so. Good vibes in the water all around.

    I had a feeling...
Almost threw my board on the car before heading to work (at Dam Neck) this morning. Just as well, I guess. Had a pretty busy day. Tomorrow, perhaps.

Chunky, bumpy, chest to head high peaks today... not too many lined up well, but a few did here and there. Fun anyway.

Ride Update: Stretch quad set, this time with the Nubster. Definitely took some of the drift out of the tail, without feeling over finned. After riding it as a quad setup both with and without the Nub, in identical conditions, I'd have to say adding the Nubster is an improvement in less than ideal conditions. I still have yet to compare the quad to the thruster setup on the same board, but I'm thinking I'd really like to try flat foiled rears instead of double foiled rears. I'd have to buy two more Stretch fronts, but that might actually be the best setup.

Man I had the exact opposite of my session yesterday. Hit a local reef, only one out for 3 hours. Conditions were flawless, about 60 degrees outside and no wind. Waves were really inconsistent where I was surfing, though, about waist to chest on the sets but it was a pretty good wait in between sets. I probably only got about 10 waves total in 3 hours. Super fun, though.

Well, if one is alone, waiting times for sets is not a problem.
Glad you got a nice session in.

Yeah, I know there were some much better waves down the road, but I really and truly prefer surfing solo if I can swing it, even if the waves aren't as good.

I just cannot compete in a crowd anymore.
