Well, my first inclination woulda been to go out to my truck, get my axe handle, and smash him over the head numerous times. Nobody upsets me wifey. Then again, my wife is one of the few people on the planet that I'm scared of so I'm pretty sure if someone offended her to the point of agitation they would feel the pain from her and not Chavez's axe handle.
Plus, prison REALLY REALLY REALLY sucks. If you don't fall in the with the right crowd, you know what happens...
At my age, they might re-name me Chavina and make me order female products from the Commissary.

if you could hear it then its their fault doesn't matter if addressed to you or not. Just say "hey, I would appreciate it if you'd keep your voices lower if you're going to make comments like that" and make sure you say it in a calm, non-threatening way. Watch your body language, i.e. keep your arms down, don't get into their personal space. 9.5 times out of ten they'll apologize, usually insisting that they're not racist and they got black friends and everything. Another option is to shake up a bottle of beer and hold you thumb over the hole, then casually walk over and spray it in his face. Then when he rushes at you, defend yourself by kicking his balls up through his throat then hit him on the side of his head (I carry a Kubotan with me at all times so I'll use that, but the beer bottle will work too) as hard as you possibly can. At this point the establishment's staff will have rushed into the melee and you grab the people you came with and head for the closest exit.

i am going to say your wife did the right thing by not telling you right away. also, having met you both i can say that yes, mrs. sup is a very attractive woman.

i get spun up sometimes when ppl say sh!t to me or my family so i know how you feel. but you really can't fight (literally and metaphorically) every stupid mutherfvcker that you encounter. you could spend a lifetime trying and stupid mutherfvckers would still be lined up around the block.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Unfortunately, it took me 30 years to figure that out.

    I like your style Chavez
    Yours too Dave
You're absolutely right man. I kept my mouth shut this time, decided to just enjoy the music and when they left all was back to normal and we had a good time. Better than stomping someone out and then being cuffed and booked then waiting for my wife to bail me out and then deal with the repercussions from the law depending how bad I beat em down. Idiots are like wack-a-moles out there, knock one down, another appears.

Sounds like you both handled it well. Nothing to gain by talking to a drunk idiot. You could set him on fire, but then what?

I had the pleasure to meet Mrs. DSUP. She is a warm, quiet spoken and friendly young woman. She has a heck of a lot more class than that dolt at the bar.

Watch out women can get your butt kicked.

Flirting with a couple of girls in a parking lot and a car pulls up behind me and starts honking its horn. There is 20 yards of asphalt for him to go around me so I smile and wave him around. He gets out the car walks up to the window and tells me to move my farking car. The girl in the other car yells go around him you stupid n*gger. He ***** slaps me and tells his buddies to get the gun. I go into full on rage. My buddy is like don't get out grabbing me. I cranked the truck up and tried to run his ass over and apparently freaked him out 'cause they tore off down the road. At that instanceI would have killed him if I could. I still get pissed when I think aboot that and it was 30 years ago. Oh yeah, Plus the chicks left.

Metard summed it up good. I think it wa a good choice. I have quite a temper too. Iv been in many situations where I got confrontational over stupid things like that. Especially when my lady is offended.

Once at a party, my lady was wearing shorts. It was summer. They were short. She's a girl. Nothing skanky. Just normal girl shorts. Well a friend of a friend tried getting her attention by calling her "short shorts". He didn't know her name. She was drunk and got offended, told me, and I went ballistic. Guys begging me to calm down, he has a kid at home and didn't want to fight. Blah blah blah. The funny part is, if my lady hadn't gotten offended and told me what happened, I would of found it funny. Guy wasn't disrespectful. But she got upset so I acted.

She now knows not to tell me certain things till after the fact because of situations like that. Although I can relate to getting confrontational, you made the right choice. And chances are the guy was just talking with his friend and didn't mean any harm.

Another option that I may of went for in a situation like that, where you don't know if it was directed at the mrs or not. Trip him. I have a knack for tripping people on purpose because there jerks. And they apologize to me, thinking they tripped on my foot or whatever. That one always makes me laugh

like the 'tard said,u cant try to fight everyone for talking out of line.when ur a kid it may be ok(its not lol) since ur not going to go to prison, but ur over 18 and fight, and break say somebodys jaw or nose, thats aggravated assault 5 yrs(5 w 85%) meaning u have to do 85% of ur time before ur paroled.then u get out and have 5 more years of parole.i know a few ppl that's still on parole for a fight they had when they were 20.

if someones talking shyt and being really aggressive, thats a different story.when that happens u wait for the guy to make a move and make sure theres plenty of witnesses who see the other dude swing first.

but if someone is casually talking racist shyt to their buddy, its not worth it to get involved.plus u never know who that other person is,he could be armed lol and u get shot for trying to stand up for ur lady.people are just bad, mkkkaaaaaaaaaaaaaay lol

Stop being easily offended. Freedom of speech is more important than anything else. If someone wants to b racist then that's their problem...move on
