Bo's... Colin is fun. Get out today if you can, it is moving fast. Anyway, finally got that board i've been messing with out in some decent surf today. Back story is I bumped the right fin last week and wasn't sure if I f'd it up. I was pretty sure but also in denial. First ride was a right, i dropped right in and got a Folly Beach Cover-up AKA closeout barrel. I was pretty pumped, this usually doesn't happen. I paddle back out and wait awhile before a carbon copy wave comes around. Drop in and chaos ensues. I feel board and fins where they shouldn't be. Immediately see that my fingers are sliced and feel my feet and knees got some abuse so i paddle in. I got to the beach and saw that i busted the fin, it was hanging by some glass so I ripped it off and headed to the car. Found a little more carnage at the car. But damn, that first ride was nice. Moral of the story is if you think it's f'd, it's f'd. That goes for you too Bubs.

Z, first time in real waves. I paddle around In some ankle slappers. I missed all of the last swell while I was in atl. This was a bad glass job gone mo' badder. I used poly for the initial glass job and was pissed with how it turned out and basically quit because I was out of resin. I got back on it when I wanted to start another project because I hate having a bunch of unfinished stuff weighing on me. So I finished it with epoxy from greenlight. That stuff is great. I won't be going back to poly ever. Anyway, the combo of time, bad initial job and different resins made a bad finish. I'm gonna sand it back to the wood and reglass the fins.
Did you glass the fins on with fin rope and cloth patches wrapped up the sides? It kind of looks like they are just stuck onto the board by their base!
No, folly was on point today. I just didn't surf fast enough to get out of the first one. 2nd one ended my day.
Mitchell, you keen eyed SOB, you caught me. I tacked them on first then added about a 4"strip of glass followed by a full sized piece.
that sucks that you got nailed on the second wave the ocean could of at least let you get a few hours in.
Damn Bro that looks painfull. FB was firing for sure. A little tricky to catch with high tide and offshores but def. firing after I figured out where to be. Doubt it sticks around long though. I blew off all kinds of work this morning but I'm glad I did!
