I was at one of the Disney properties two years ago (NOT the Grand Floridian, can't afford that ish!) There was a similar setup, with water and sandy beaches. I distinctly remember the hotel staff telling us to "stay out of the water" but they said nothing about gators. When I pressed a bit, they remarked about water quality, but I could tell by the way they were saying it, that there was more to the story, and they were giving me the rehearsed line. I suspect there will be some changes to the rehearsed line, as well as the properties.
Found the boy's body today. God bless those guys searching to bring some sense of closure to that family.

signs posted not to swim, no signs about gators. The kid was not swimming. Disney is about as "man made" as it gets. Nobody visiting could have expected to have their kid taken by an alligator on a nice white sand beach built by Disney. This isn't the ocean or a natural park setting like Yellowstone where some is killed by a bear. Disney's gotta PAY
If Walt were alive he would be a basket case, I am sure. Of course, that was before Disney was a publicly traded company. They are surely going to pay,or rather, their insurance company will.
I'm betting that the park believed that the section in question was probably gator-proof at one time, and got complacent. I also believe that even with signage, fences, guards and even a signed waiver...somehow our illustrious Justice system would find a way to make Disney culpable.
^^^^THIS Disney is facing a potentially huge negligence/liability lawsuit over this issue. Allegedly (according to news reports) employees had mentioned to the higher-ups for some time (potentially years) about concerns with alligators being present, guests feeding them, etc. Disney chose to do nothing about it. Furthermore, they hosted movie nights on the beach. The fact that they were aware of a potential life threatening situation and chose to do nothing about it (even put up signs) opens the door for gross negligence. Guests utilizing facilities had a reasonable expectation of safety...Disney fvcked up big time on this one
