slash...have a blast, man! stay away from contraband at all costs, i saw a nightmare story on locked up abroad from Indo and that's one spot you don't want to spend any length of time in their prison system.

Your going in PRIME season, so you're going to have to deal with crowds If you can swing 2 boards, something similar to what you ride at home and a stepup In Bali, you'll find rights at Keremas and the east coast, as well as Canguu. I never surfed airport rights, but you can grab a boat from Kuta Beach. Komune hotel is a sick place that your chick will enjoy and is right in front of Keremas...checkout their instagram. There is a sick spot on the south coast of Bukit called nyang nyang - its a ***** to get to, and very heavy/sharky/sketchy but you likely won't be dealing with crowds and it will pick up ANY swell as it has the most exposure in bali. Its like 550 steps or so straight down the edge of a cliff If you take a day off from surfing, I highly recommend some mountain biking...theres a few guides, we used Infinity Mountain Biking and did a downhill tour for like 5 hours. They offer several skill levels. Stay out of Kuta at night if you with your woman. She might like a 2-3 day trip to the Gili Islands - unless there is a massive swell, it likely won't have any surf...i think Gili T has a place that can break on a big swell. Its a cool place for snorkeling, island hopping, relaxing...no cars or scooters on the islands. you could tie this in with a trip to desert point. With the exception of the first 2-3 days, don't book anything in advance...book as you go...follow the swell, don't get tied down anywhere. Uluwatusurfvillas is incredible, but my budget didn't allow it...I used agoda to book, most of the time i'd book same day. take your basic med kit - you'll prob get the ****s once or twice while your there. don't drink the tap water obviously. always watch your cash - the people are extremely nice, but it only takes 1 to grab your wallet When I went with my girl, she liked Canguu, Komune, Seminyak, Bukit, and Gili Islands. Kuta also is cool in the day/sunset, but gets sketchy after 11 or so. Be advised that despite all the gorgeous photos on the web, the place is pretty fawking dirty. Rent a scooter from your hotel, but when getting from major spot to major spot, take a taxi. and for gods sake, drive safe there PM me with any specific questions.
Wow ... SI OG's checkin' in. Thanks so much guys! Jrusso- Ulu villas is way outta my budget. I mean, for what I spend there I could Island hop or buy a second board. It looks sick but we usually travel as low key as possible; homestays etc., trying to spread our money to the people that could really use it. Sandbar18- Nyang sounds f*ckin gnarly! We'll see how my surfing goes now that I'll be somewhere legit. If I'm in one piece at the the end of the trip, I'll try some more challenging spots. Gotta find that balance between challenging yourself and knowing your limits. I hear you on not booking in advance, we almost never do. It gets stressful at times, and we've definitely ended up sleeping in a car in S. America more than once, but that's part of the fun. Going with the flow has brought me so many cool places, into families homes for foreign insights I would have never had otherwise. My GF surfed Canguu last year on a previous work trip and loved it. So we're def. gonna start out up there (aftrer picking up boards I guess?). thanks for the hotel recommendation. I am really stoked on Keramas, since I never get to surf quality rights. Thanks for the hotel recommendation (and all the other info). If I think of anything else I'll PM you, if you're ever in NY and want a beer/shot on me, PM me. Tard & Koki, thanks for the well wishes! I used to love 'locked up abroad'. No way am I f*cking with drugs in Indo. I'm actually in a weirdly sober time of my life these days, so it all works out. Besides, there's no way the cut is anywhere as good as in S. America. Unless I can go skiing with Shred himself, I think I'll be stickin' to the bottle.
What do you guys think about boards? Round tail/pin, or thumb for a smaller board? Quad or thruster? Single fins? I don't think it makes sense to purchase one, but I love riding em. (Maybe I can convince my GF to get one as her board haha). I'm hoping to spend at least a few sessions on a longer board, working on the cross-step hang fives, slidin' and glidin.'
Gracias Amigo. One day we shall share some barrels. I'm gonna want a lesson once I get my own bodyboard! F*ck yeah I am. I start many of my days listening to music, getting amped about surfing on the way to work. Now that I know I'll actually be surfing the waves I dream about, I'm getting even more frothy!! BTW thanks for the fishing invite dude, I might have to hit you up about that when I get back! One more hour to go at work. Thankfully I was able to burn some of that time at Swellinfo. Can't wait to get away from these f*ckheads ...
If it's hollow perfection you seek, a 6'4"-6" pintail or round pin, 3 fin will be trick. Good all round board, and a ton of them out there. Don't forget extra fins if do-able Adjust, enjoy, and..... slash, dog!
Yeah!!! LEt's hear about it! What was the biggest wave you paddled into? What was your favorite spot?
