    Poll for all youse:

What type of sunglasses are your go to's? I have some polarized Ray Bans that are great on the water but are more of a hybrid between fashion and function, doing neither particularly elegantly. Might be time to look at a new pair.

Lots of people swear by Costas, which are obscenely pricey, but Electric and Smith seems to make some nice eyes for being on the water. Fashion wise, I've been looking at Persol which ooze 60's cool.

I'm curious what people find works for them. Any effective alternatives out there you like?

Been wearing the same pair of Electric "Technicians" for years, but it's about time for a new pair, the lenses are in pretty bad shape now

Maui Jims. i had a pair for over 5 years and they were still in great shape when i lost them. And I wasn't really taking care of them besides keeping them in a hard case. So i went and got the same pair as a replacement. Going on 3 years with these and they are still in good shape. expensive but worth it cause they hold up.

    Costas.

Also, I was talking to a friend of a friend on the beach this weekend. He purchased a pair of Electrics online that turned out to be fake. Ebay. They looked real too but when you put them on, they did not compare to the real deal in terms of the lens.

On land: Oakley Gascans, gloss black frame, black polarized lenses. Found a pair on the beach a few years ago and loved them. First sunglasses I've ever had that didn't irritate me in some way or another. We find lots of Oakleys washed up on our beach. Clean up the frames and replace the inevitably scratched lenses for $30-40. Boom, instant $150 shades.

In the water: SeaSpecs. I needed something for the early morning sessions when the sun glare off the water makes it impossible to see. Betty and some of her gang recommended them. Love them. Polarized and they don't come off in the surf. My eyes aren't tired anymore after a full day of surfing. Aboot $25 from Amazon.

Right on! I like my current shades but the part that goes over your years just doesn't fit well when you have a hat on, which is pretty much every time I'm on the boat. It's a pretty fat end and just ends up getting smashed up against the side of my head which is annoying. That's a must-have for my next beach/boat part.

And @towelie, I've got such a Persol itch that just needs to be scratched

you gonna love the way they make you feel and act cool. you'll actually BE cool. its crazy. the downside - jim are warmer tint ..like brown - purplish , while persols are cooler greener brownish. but 5 mins in your eye adjust regardless... i just like the warmer tints a little more. but they say green is actually of calming properties. so could be what's activating all the cool and sh1t...

Found a pair of these floating in the ocean at Sandbridge. Had a small scratch, but other wise in good condition. They are my beater pair. My younger bro' gave me a pair of Hobie Mayports a few Christmases ago.. they are very nice.. probably would not have bought them for myself, but they are really good out on the water. Normally, I go the stanky route, polarized cheapies... ya know how the song goes..

I just spent way too much money on some costas this weekend. They're great and destroy my sunclouds.

Costas. Anything else you're just kissing yourself. Get the glass lenses though. That's what makes the Costas so much better than others.

My friend always purchased a new pair of sunglasses every month and his sunglasses are super cool. Then one day I asked him from where you purchased sunglasses, then he had recommended me to shop online from the wholesale reading glasses sites, where they offer the sunglasses at the lowest price and with the latest style.

I beat my shades up too much to spend a lot of money on them. Either that or I break them or lose them. So for the money, Sunclouds have decent optics, are polarized, don't look too dorky, and fit me well. All of that for the low, low price of about fity bucks.

But if I had the money, a good pair of Wayfarers or Maui Jims, for sure. But now you're talkin' over $100.

I buy polarized Anarchy shades off Whiskey Militia. Under 20 bucks and never had a problem. Speaking of which... What the f*ck happened to Whiskey Militia??? Just noticed it is no longer part of site...
