Too early to get excited and try to plan a drive up to Long Island Monday or Tuesday? Never gone but have heard good stories and forecast looks good(as of now)
Is it possible to surf that kind off wave in this area or will it be block long close out's. Inquiring minds would like to know.
i was thinking south jersey on sunday. is a 10ft waves even surfable around here. also can you paddle into it
Tuesday LI looks fun and should be rideable at the right spot at the right tide. Monday is looking like victory at sea conditions. Although there may be a small window of opportunity since forecasts can be wrong and things can change. And all of fire island isn't gay, but there are gay towns. I remember going camping there with my mom as a kid. Like 4 years old. And she'd make me walk all the way to this gay town so she could get hammered at this bar as I sat outside confused, wondering why grown men were kidding each other. I love my mom, but some may of disapproved of her parenting skills
im as on the border of them as you can be, therefore i am looking to really try a lot of new places like ny and south jerz this winter/fall
ill be visiting family in oc on sunday but will have a board with me, def gonna check it unless we are blown away or under water. ill try to post what happens as im sure others will
it wont be rideable in jers til probably Tuesday at best.victory at sea all weekend.its worth checking out,but don't bother bringing a board. should be good in li,north wind is offshore there
Got to love the uncrowded conditions on long beach....Real surfing is dying a slow death. Courtesy of surfline. Photo by Mike Nelson http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/e...onger-chasers-on-the-way-gaston-solid_141303/ Just a descent beach break. Nothing special.(better than any beach break in RI to be fair, but still it aint supertubos or trestles) People complain about California crowds. I've hit solo sessions at huntington beach away from the pier with chest high waves. No problemo. And Southern CA is one of the most crowded spots in the country. How exactly are you supposed to have etiquette with that many people or avoid getting hit by someone's board? Hey question for you LI boys. Isn't your coastline like 100 miles long. Why are there 50 million people on long beach/rockaway/lido area? This isn't just this swell. It's always mega crowded with a spread out beach break that runs for miles. Is it because the waves aren't as good out east? I notice few jetties farther out east.
don't believe everything u see,its just like jersey.u have the spots like Lincoln, rockaway, which I compare with Manasquan and Belmar where half the surfing population paddles out.meanwhile 10 minutes up the road u have the same conditions with nobody out, that goes for ny and nj,and probably everywhere else down the coast. I guess ppl feel safer but in reality it puts u more at danger.dont worry about the ocean, she'll toss u around and smack u up but the people will hurt ya
That's what I picture ruggles looking like tomorrow. I had to laugh, though. I was checking the Narragansett cam this afternoon. There must have been 50 guys out and it was completely flat. Wtf.
It's just like anywhere else. The best spot will be the most crowded. You named three towns but there plenty of jetties/ beaches that are way less crowded. Sheep go to the cam spots, people that know sh!t go to the right spots
