Anyone surf Asbury on weekends (or regularly)?

If so, how is the mandated surfing area and the crowd? I have surfed all over Monmouth County, but AP only twice. 8 times out of 10 I'm somewhere in Deal, but the summer crowds there are getting to me. Not to mention AP has a lot more things to do post-surf-session. What should I expect there on weekends?

Stoney - AP is good but Saturday it was walling up and closing out. We went down there with the intention to surf session #2, but ended up at the beach bar for "mid-day" cocktails & some grub. The surfing beach there usually isn't packed, but it was on Saturday. All the popular(crowded) spots, such as Pumphouse, were mobbed with kooks just bobbing around like bouys. I couldn't get down with any of that for too long, so ended up at some "hidden gems" that weren't as big but definitely just as fun and fast. AP can be a great spot, but not with a storm with this much hype....

Haha, I was doing the mid-day drink & grub on Cookman Ave that day. I don't know any spots in AP other than the "surfing beach". I know this past weekend was brutal at most places, due to storm hype. I'm just wondering about the average summer weekend in AP. Basically I want to take a break from Deal and we're always in AP anyway, so it makes sense! :)

It's always worth a look, especially if you're always right in the area(Deal). I beleive that is the only "surfing beach," but I'm not 100% on that. I do know that they are serious about not leeting anyone surf in spots that arent designated for surfing. The "boys in blue" are always looking to bust chops along with the lifeguards. They should stop arresting, harassing, & ticketing surfers and work on cleaning up the crime in AP. It's a free-for-all over there, they probably just play it safe by screwing up our sessions cause they have to make it look like they're doing something...

I haven't really noticed too much harassment in AP, but I haven't surfed there in-season. Obviously the police have bigger issues there than surfers, but I think the beach area makes the town a lot of money so they have to focus on it. I guess we can be glad the beaches will go back to unprotected in like two weeks.

The only spots I named are ones that everyone knows about already; get with it motion! While you're still trying to figure out how to put on your wetsuit, I'll be the guy you look at and say to yourself "wow, I wish I could surf like that..." It's ok that you suck and can only talk **** on this forum, I understand you're just a kook and can't figure out how to get out of that status. Benny; hahaha, I'm not even going to entertain that!

Pumphouse in Deal is no secret. Deal in general is definitely no secret. That's my problem with it in the summer.

Motion - I live in LB and was born in Leonardo, we've probably been in a lineup together and would never even know it. I'm as local as they come and have been all my life. I'm not going to go back and forth with you, you're probably some young little punk. I know someone in every line-up from Sandy Hook to Manasquan, so don't talk like you know me. I'm willing to meet you anywhere anytime and we can surf it off; don't be so AGRO!

I go to AP on weekends. As for this weekend with Hurricane Bill..No one was allowed in the water from friday to sunday. So I went to Loch Arbor. They did let people in monday. Anyway the waves were not as big saturday and sunday in Ap as they were in Loch Arbor. It does get crowded on weekends though if thats your question, but week days its pretty empty

I couldn't agree with you more, but everyone that surfs in monmouth county knows all the spots in Deal (it's not a big town). I'm sure you're a great surfer and I respect the passion towards keeping spots quiet (even know they're already blown up).
I had a great session last night in LB after work, at a spot that everyone thinks the dredging got the best of. Smaller scale but a great wave to have some fun on! We've had to have seen each other somewhere in LB, I'm there all year round.

Hehehe this is funny watching the New Jerseyits argue. This is probably what its like watching us argue over dumb crap down in here in ocmd.

Does anyone else think we should have separate forums for Jersey and Delmarva, and maybe everything south from there? I mean, we're all separated by large bays and our coasts change drastically and all have their own particular features. Naah I like to hear wheat others say from other places. We all have the same common bond.
