sup brothers. gonna be applying to colleges pretty soon. i have a list of colleges i've been interested in. i'm planning on studying business/accounting. i pretty much have my mind made-up so im not looking for anyone to make my decision for me, just wanna see what u guys have to say no order: quinnipiac university saint joes university university of vermont university of rhode island PS: if youre one of the people who has a huge boner for uncw plz get off my thread
At VT you can carpool with the Québécois down to NH to drop in on Barry. Burlington is a nice town, close to mountains, Montreal, etc... but not good for surfing.
Not quinnipiac place is super ghey I would choose uri ButyeA go west.... I suggest fighting fire instead. One of the biggest regrets of my life was going to college....big waste of time and for most people money (I got pretty much full scholarship). Fight fire and do something cool that gives you the ability to surf and travel. School is just jail you pay for.
Wow, no ambition, huh?? What about Harvard, Yale, Columbia....??? If not those, become a plumber--mo' money in that field......
Unless you have a very specific career path you want to pursue or are wealthy enough to do it without student loan debt college is not a very good investment these days. Just my opinion.
Become an electrician or plumber. Use the google machine to learn how to run a business. There is no next generation of tradesmen. If you have half a brain, you'll make more money and surf more than all of your friends that put themselves in debt to be customer service representatives.
Combining these thoughts plus advise to get 2 years in at Comm College. Having a specific career path is critical as you want as quick a ROI as possible to pay off any loans that may be needed. If you have any interest in trades, electricians and plumbers are in demand. Take business courses at night at CC, do apprenticeship during day.. in time become a master and run your own business. These days it is difficult to get a timely ROI from many paths through universities. Engineering, technology and some business paths will yield decent returns. My $.02 Btw, October 2016 Money magazine has article on business schools.. you might find it online.
Saint Joe's is just not worth the cost. Over $40k per year for a college without much name recognition and/or prestige outside the immediate Philadelphia area. Even in Philly though, SJU's business school ranks below Penn and Temple. Add to the fact that the school is barely in Philadelphia and an hour away from the closest beach. It's good that you have an idea on what you want to major on in college. I see a bunch of the guys have chimed in saying college is not worth the investment, get into the trades, etc. Everyone is different and has different priorities. It seems your pretty certain college is the path you'd like to take. Work hard, get internships and make sure you study something with a concrete job path after graduation. No liberal arts degrees are worth it unless you come from a lot of $$$$$ and don't really need to work to support yourself. Accounting=job, engineering=job, teacher=job, etc. Make sure to get relevant experience in your major every summer if you can.
I concur with this. I currently have a child in college (in final year), and the above parameters have been applied. The "=job" result is still in the balance, but appears to be a likely outcome. What ever path you choose, hard work and diligence will ultimately pay off.
