I noticed no swelle data in my forecast and then checked the NDBC page and there's been no data from the DE Bay buoy for about 24 hours. Also noticed no data coming from the two closest land stations (Bethany and OCMD). Does anyone know if this is some sort of planned outage for maintenace or what's going on if not?
NOAA=buoy abandonners. My beloved 44097 was down fall through spring closest other buoy/foot was Montauk.
I guess ISIS, Obama and the Zika virus worked out their differences and got good ole 44009 back in working order where it is reading 2ft @ 6 sec this morning.
Thats wierd...its not working for me this morning, and the weather services website says it will be down until October. What website are you using to get the data from 44009? No data: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/maps/Chesapeake_Bay.shtml
That was the swell data in the app for southern NJ; must have switched buoys? Wait, just checked the app and it is now reporting 44066. That's good I guess but either way it's - flatness for the week.
These issues have to do with the actual buoys not the SwellInfo websuite. Don't think there's much you can do but it's awesome that you want to stay on top of things that way.
The current conditions report for Ocean City Maryland is reporting data from buoy 44066 which is like 100 miles away from Maryland and way out to sea. Its not representative of OCMD conditions. If there isn't buoy nearby reporting wave data, using data from a buoy a long distance away isnt really a solution.
Admin - Instead of using a buoy that is 100 miles north of us, and 100 miles out to sea, this buoy is like 20 miles from OC MD and close to shore. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=44089
