I don't think he means their name IRL, he means their regular screen name. If I were a mod, I would just use DPSUP, and if someone got mad at me they could suck it. Don't see what's so hard about them doing that. Maybe they're very popular and respected members of the forum and don't want to lose their "street cred" with the group for being a mod? Seems likely to me...

 

That's a good idea but we should at least wait until it's Festivus to start airing our grievances.

 

We are all referring to them using their "real" user names. They are all members who before becoming mods had and still have regular accts too. And for the record my last name is Carter and my First name begins with R.

I was once a part of another surfing chat room that started slowly but grew quickly.

As it grew, members became more diverse...as too their opinions. It wasn't long before one of the most vocal and influential members convinced his buddies running the site to allow him to be a "moderator".

Within a very short period, anyone who had a differing opinion than the Mod and his buddies were suspended or outright banned for having the audacity to speak negatively about their particular style of surfing and the boards they rode.

As you can guess, the majority left the site to the small bourgeois minority in charge of the site.

Now, the site is nothing but cobwebs and crickets. The few members remaining solely use Facebook to communicate. The actual website is practically defunct.

No clicks...no $$$.

The behavior on this site has been overblown by a minority few who now believe that they need to "tell the teacher" and now need a "safe space". Take a look at the Surfer bb or even Swaylock's. Those people are fvcking brutal over there, and say stuff that would get you permabanned on this site. Yet, they continue to grow in popularity with minimum moderation.

Suppressing speech is not only un-American...it's a sure fire way to cut your own nuts off.

Do you really want to be that website? Do you really want to be *that* teacher?
