Omg. Omg. Omg. Ok. I'm pretty hey, but I spotted a few things wrong with that right off the bat 1. No fins in the 7s 2. Throws it on the roof wrong 3. Girl is rocking a Twinkie set up on a HPSB 4. Guy is missing a leg
I guess the Austin locals don't use leashes in the pool either. can't imagine what a ****show that'd be. I was waiting for shot of fins being put in backwards/wax on the bottom of the board for speed but it never showed up.
My god that was horrible... And they threw a cripple in to pull at the heart strings... "Even legless people can now enjoy surfing without an ocean!" NOTICE!!! I am not against people with disabilities surfing!!!! I am against using people with disabilities as a marketing tool!!! The guy with the prosthetic leg is not in the surf videos either...
IDK...i kind of agree on one level but also suspect that spending $700 on a marketed surfboard, or $300 on a marketed wetsuit brand, or $1000 on a surf trip to a spot or region that is marketing itself as a surf destination does just as much to sell out to marketing forces as this does. I think carving up a few dozen acres of dirt in Austin to attract kooks bothers me less than building a new road and hotel next to a pristine pointbreak in Africa or Centro.
Whenever Slater's crew decides wtf they're actually going to do with their wave technology, and where they're gonna build it....? Will put the Austin place into inner tube water park mode.
nah surfing is cool, its the surfers that are making it lame. with their f*ckin bullsh1t ass attitudes and whatever. have you f*ckers forgotten what you paddle out for?
Not only is it outrageously priced, but it's not a very good wave and nothing like the real thing. Any wave pool technology that uses a foil is basically WAKE surfing. You might as well get towed behind a boat. This includes kelly's wave. They used some very good editing to mask the fact that you are moving forward, not across the wave. You are basically stationary near the foil with the wave moving under you while going forward. Sucks compared to an actual ocean wave where YOU are actually moving across the wave. It's nothing like what you're surfing in the ocean. Honestly the best man made wave I've seen is typhoon lagoon. If you they could simply make it barrel and made the rides longer it would be way better, but it's still the best. I'd rather ride mush that is LIKE a real wave than follow a foil barrel where you aren't moving across the wave. You need a tech where you can PUSH the water towards people rather than following a wake, which is what you get with foil tech.(wave garden, slater wave pool ect.) THe generation source needs to push the water towards the break while being behind the break. That's what typhoon lagoon does. This is what happens in the ocean where wind pushes the waves towards the break.
Also, I can't count the amount of people I've talked to that say "if a wave pool like that was around me I'd really like to go and learn to surf!" The ocean acts as a regulator especially when it's flat much of the time when tourists are there on the ec. If this goes mainstream the crowded lineups will be impossible in the ocean. It will turn into a rich man's game like ****ty east coast skiing where people pay nearly 100 bucks for a lift ticket to ski fake iced up groomed snow with a 1000s of their best friends and stand in huge lines. You'll pay 90 bucks to ride 5 ****ty ass waves that couldn't compare to an average ocean beach break. I pray at least the tech improves to make them like the real thing because I couldn't imagine spending that amount of money to ride a foil wave.
No, not in texas. No reason to be there. But you look and you can see. The person is stationary next to that foil. They are simply moving forward. Look at this aerial picture of slaters wave pool. You can see there is very little room to move left or right. It's very similar to wake surfing with a cable line except you're not holding onto a rope. The water is moving under you and you're moving forward. Nland is a step up from the totally stationary wave pool in san diego where you don't move at all. But now you're moving forward instead of across the wave like a natural wave. Here's a review of a very similiar type of wave in england http://floatstories.com/surf-snowdonia-review-whats-it-really-like/ All that said, if you live in texas it's better than nothing. I'll give it that. But, I'd still rather ride typhoon lagoon. And I'd rather ride the ocean instead of typhoon. At 90 bucks for an hour, they should really be giving you a solo session because I can get solo sessions in the ocean for FREE and catch MORE and way BETTER waves.
So we, or I should say YOU, have established several things. 1. You're merely another opinionated asshandling d-canoe that hasn't ever been outside mummy's computer room, aka 'the safe spot.' Dinner at 5pm, sparky! 2. You're the ultimate Internet posting 'expert' because you are rendering your opinions based not on 'sperience but on your conjecture. 3. Ergo, since you've never been laid you probably 'advise' people on how to eat your fukkk based on your extensive knobb job porno collection. 4. You've never been anywhere outside of your home state, homeostasis doesn't count sparkplug, you've never been to any world-class surf break, you've never had top-level surf coaching, you've never done much of any damn thing except post your drivel here. 5. You don't surf. Did you confuse Yee Olde Fourume with your yelp restaurant reviews? Maybe you should go back to posting on yelp & opentable.com. Asshats like you are observers of Life, you have no 'speriences & guess what, chimp...?? Selfies & videos of open air concerts mean fukkk all.
