I know why they called it a superstorm retard, I was making a joke about how despite it's size (it was actually over 900 miles across based on NOAA) it was still a pu$$y of a storm except for the rain and if you guys did not have basements at the coast and tunnels all through your damn cities you'd be no worse off than NC & SC are now. You did not complain but you did try and put down Blasters by saying how tough you were for riding out Sandy. I'm just saying that was a joke and you ain't no daisy b!tch.

What about if I request that someone come kill me? I'm stuck on a weekly conf call having to listen to a girl with a nasally valley girl accent drop every bit of disgusting corporate speak there is. The only thing missing is her adding in OMG or "totally" ever other word.

I've developed a burning hatred for the words engaged\synergy\leverage\etc...

I know exactly what you mean, when I have to join in on all hands meetings and sales kick offs via webex, I have to listen to the upper management give each other hand jobs while sounding like radio DJ's when they speak. It's quite painful.

 

lol - I dropped "Sunilarity" in a meeting last week. Nobody picked up on it

 

I used to hate terms such as "radar screen/same page/teamwork"........nauseating to the extreme.

Sort of sticking with the theme you guys are raging with.....my buddy was on vacay with his wifey on one of the islands in the Caribbean when 9-11 hit. Instant digital outage that lasted for several weeks on that island.

Couldn't use credit cards, for anything. All the ATMs shut down. The airport closed, no flights in or out. The hotel couldn't process payments or payroll, and started running out of food. So, after allowing them to over-stay a coupla days, the hotel then closed up. Put ex-guests on the street. Almost no cash in their pockets, credit card network was down & stayed down. No other hotels were open because they had no way of processing payments & no tourists had enough cash to pay for rooms.

They spent one night walking, just walking around the town. The next day they managed to get a taxi to the airport, which left them with $20.00 cash; that night slept on the pavement outside the terminal, along with hundreds of other people trying to get out. Airport personnel provided food, water & allowed them bathroom visits.

After 3 days of this they finally got a flight to an airport 500 miles from home in the USA, but hey they were back in the USA. Stuff worked. They got some cash, rented a car & drove straight home. He said it was pretty unreal how fast they went from privileged, well-funded visitors to destitute, filthy homeless people with absolutely zero control over their fates.

Anyways, the storm & wreckage chatter reminded me of this one.

Awesome story, sucked for your friends, but there was a happy ending for them so glad it worked out. Can't imagine how that must of felt, other than helpless.

 

Had that happened to me, I am afraid to say I would have raped, pillaged, burned and looted all that was nearby me.
