Lol, yup that's me. I picture myself much younger also. I'm making a weird face in this picture, I wasn't wearing my partial (lost a bunch of teeth at 18 getting hit in the mouth with a surfboard). My buddy said smile, and just before he snapped the picture I realized I was sans teeth and pulled my head back and my bottom lip up to hide the gapping hole in my grill. He said **** you should have been natural since that's how I see you everyday and you look kinda mean without the choppers. Thanks Zeroevol!
It is funny though. I turned 50 this year, and still picture the 20 year old me until I look in the mirror. That's a surreal feeling, I'll probably picture this version of me when I'm 70 but by then I'll be smart and not look in the mirror.

Went togging (blackfish) tonight, caught 20 in a couple of hours no keepers all on green crabs. Moved over to the 50 bridge in Ocean city and caught a bunch of short stripers. Between the two species as I waiting for the tide to shift I found a stash of oysters and pryed about 25 of them off. I have gotten about 10 dozen this week, which isn't a ton but they sure tasted good. Got a text from Mitchell In the morning about surfing but it just didn't do it for me, got another call while fishing that it was clean and fun in the afternoon. I kinda miss surfing.
Zip, your not too far from me. I was at IRI last night from about 11:00pm until about 1:30am, nothing. But there were a couple sets that came through on the beach side that def looked fun, from what I could see. Heard several reports of the short stripers at the rate 50 bridge.
Yeah there are lots of stripers around, most small but a few keepers (non for me though). The tog fishing is fun but man they keepers are at a 40 fish to 1 keeper ratio. There also are some small blues still lingering in the bay and flounder believe it or not. The surface water was still at 61 yesterday, can't remember it being this war this late in the season but maybe it has and I'm just forgetting. I wacked my prop on a rock when I was chugging along looking for signs of oysters. Didn't realize it did any damage until I gunned it and the whole boat was shaking wildly.
Fished in central long island yesterday... Miles of bunker, 100 boats and only had bluefish for the first hour. Then a friend came by and told us he had a bunch of big bass (and no bluefish) a couple of miles away. Shot over there and there was only a couple of boats. Hooked up 1st drift. No bluefish and bass from 20-30 lbs.
Nynj, nice!! I some more schoolie stripers this morning, had a couple hits on top water, but nothing to write home about.
Any use a fluro leader when trout fishing? I've been fishing braid for several weeks and doing great but certain people are insisting on a flip leader around a foot or two long . What y'all think?
I use a shock leader for stripers when the water is crystal clear. If there is any murk at all even just slight I go direct to braid and never noticed a drop in action. I'm also not even sure the leader matters in gin clear water but when I'm not getting hits and and can see my line on a retrieve I can't stop myself from using one.
If I'm fly fishing for trout I'll use either 5x or 6x fluorocarbon tippet about two feet long on hard mono and that seems to do pretty well, but that's all I've been doing so I can't argue otherwise.
Tons of hickory shad in the water yesterday at Sandy Hook. That means the bonita and bass should be around, too. Gonna try my luck over the next few days in the suds and see what happens.
There was bass busting 10-50 yards off the beach in LB yesterday... Saw a couple of decent fish caught in the afternoon
A buddy of mine shot a video of whales feeding right in front of Ocean Place. So yea... fish were thick in the water.
Can we talk about how some fishermen completely lack respect? Multiple times in the last month ive gone for a surf and particularly search out areas dudes arent casting cause i get it Fall bass run is the time to score for them Angler types. I get it i respect it, if you were there before me i'm not paddling out on your fun time, but no i get to the beach and find a spot at sunrise surf for an hour or so when Johnny Bass Hunter walks right up to where i'm surfing and starts throwing lead at me. Mind you no one is fishing in the general vicinity and plenty of other options of spots to cast but nope - these tools then have the nerve to gesture at me and start getting aggro when i run into their line. ALL IN ALL WOULD YOU CAST OUT WHERE DUDES ARE TRYING TO GET THEIR SURF ON? I F'IN HOPE NOT. #rant
