Haha Oh boy like i said some chump from jersey gets on and run's his illiterate mouth. So Dave, No I "Aint" from La jolla. Im from the east coast and yes good job you are correct buddy. Again I have no clue what that has to do with the waves in california versus new jersey. I guess your mad becuase i got out of the bubble of where i grew up and expanded my horizons before i got my girlfriend pregnant. Next nowhere in that post did i insulat anyone or put any state down. Im sorry people on this site love to talk behind there little webnames and pop off at the mouth any chance they get becuase they surf 9ft BIC boards and this is the only place they can make people think they are good. Glad your family has been in the same 5 blocks since the 30's awsome, wonderful...noone cares. Yes Jersey does suck and trust me everyone would get out if they could afford it. Its the armpit of America. I would rather live in arizona and surf with Kane in his wave pool (you most likely didnt get that movie reference). Let me know how much you and your 3 year old are surfing in 5 months, hope they make 5mm fullsuits for toddlers. Ill be in my 3/2 maybe boots but im not sure if it will be a sunny day of not. Oh no wait its sunny everyday in San Diego. Next I said there are no reefs on the east coast and i guess you can count Maine New Hampshire and Mass. My mistake and the waves there suck anyway and its cold so it doesnt count Jersey has non. I bet half the people who are saying jersey is better have never even been to cali. Its California Seriously California, lose the confusion. California has forgotten more surf than Jersey has every had.

Have you ever been to those NE states with the reefs to claim they suck? Just curious...

HUh have you cuz its amazing there yeah that right. Alaska is better than cali. Get a grip unless you live in hawaii california is the best place to live for a surfer period end of story.

Sorry... I've missed this thread the past few days while enjoying the offerings in Cape Hatteras :)

So many of our assessments and judgments are relative to one's experience. SoCal, esp. San Diego County, can be nice, but I'd opt for my tropical destinations. SoCal really isn't a turn-on for many. And the water really is a lot dirtier than clean during non-rain events.

I have caught some great days without crowds in the tropics. I've caught some great days north of California without crowds. I have also seen tons of crowds in SoCal.

You're sounding extremely hostile in your forum posting, unlike your personal PMs.

I don't live at Dog Beach and don't have to. I have surfed it and the Cliffs and LJ and N. County. In a wide variety of conditions. However, not is all cherry as espoused on the forums. P.S. Don't step on many needles on Dog Beach!

I lived on the east coast from when I was born (69) and moved here to CALIFORNIA in 88 when the Marine Corp stationed me out here. I love it. I have not gone back. BTW, Zack, I lived in OB from 94 to 99. I knew those guys and other locals way back in the day when my buddy from the Marines was the door guy at Winstons and they use to play at our house parties. Good times.

On that note... California has no waves. Please stop pimping this state. We barely have surf, it's always crowded, there are constantly fights in the lineups, turf wards, serioius localism, and yes.. the cost of living is 75 to 80% higher than any other place in the country. The waters are constantly patrolled by great whites, there are gang bangers trying to mug or rape you on every corner, and only the transplants from out of state don't speak the native language of Spanglish, so they are often raped and mugged because of this as well. Our water is always a murky brown because of sewage and often you will find dead animals floating around the river mouths after good rains (I am not talking rats here, but cows, sheep, and sometimes horses). You should all stay in NJ. Or do you all call it "Jeri" because the whole words "New Jersey" are just so friggin long to type out? :p

NJ is way better. You should all stay back there. Please, no more. We are full. Besides, none of you want to be raped because you don't speak Spanglish, right?

    Boooo California, Hooray "Jeri"!

I agree with mofo, CA is over crowded to say the least and sometimes seedy. I wouldnt trade my homebreak for anything... and I dont know about anyone else but I actually kinda like the cold water. also the east coast is great for learning, its like learning to rollerblade on gravel it makes you that much stronger when you get to something meaty.

Haha, you're a clown. I'm by no means defending Jersey or EC vs the West, and yes, I've never been to California but for you to say you've been to the NE and they get waves once a year... get real.

And for you to say it's not a place to surf or even talk about surfing... are you jealous?

Thundernuts is you screen name seriously, and on top of that you dont even back anything up you just throw kelly slater out there like he will save you. Well Tough guy check surfline K Slate was here like 2 weeks ago at rincon. NO big deal when is he going to surf where you surf thundernuts? You most likely boogie board and because your a moron the level of ability of surfer means everyone here is better than the best guys you know, because the waves are so much better. There you go i held your hand and walked you through. Now for RGNSUP your a surfer who lives in the northest United States, I live in southern California. Am I jealous? hahahaha is that a serious question? When I said there were waves like once a year that is something called sarcasm, bathtubs get lucky sometimes so im sure your little homebreak gets waves but how long can you surf for? Till october? Your so retarded i cant even handle it. YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO CALIFORNIA AND YOUR PUTTING YOUR TWO CENTS IN. Get a job save some money and buy a plane ticket, your pathetic seriously you live in the northest. This thread was for real surfers who have experienced real surf spots to decide if cali was better than jersey. Your lames states werent even in the discussion because noone cares or would ever waste therir time or money to go up there. Your right to speak on here has been revoked go jump off your apt. complex. The crowds are not bad in california and there are hardly any fights. Its the beast place to live in the united states. Who has the next one line reply with no sound reasoning and just wants to run their mouth. Im still waiting for that guy from Iowa to get on and tell me the waves are better there. You might as well be from Iowa

why does everyone have to hate? it's just suppose to be a comparison. you're suppose to state the facts about each place and determine whether cali or nj is better, the same, or whatever. not talk 8 pages of stupid ****. you all need to get a life let your balls drop.

The entire question is probably specious, "for all of you east coast surfers, i want to hear, if you had the chance to move to california would you do it or stay? california winter or jersey winter? california summer or jersey summer?"

If the answer is pure wave size and wind conditions that information is readily available all over the Internet. Opinions don't mean squat. Warm weather, cold weather and other factors are also highly subjective. And besides... California vs. New Jersey? Whoa! NJ is hardly the epicenter of surf on the East Coast. And, where in California are you comparing it to? That is not evident in the question.

I love the waves and weather in cali. people are to "laid back" for me there though. I love jersey but in reality for surfing cali would be better. Unless jersey had its winter waves all year around

man you are way better than me.....the first time i saw the pacific ocean with all the anticipation of growing up in jersey, i could not understand how many bodies were in the water. that's all i really saw just have never seen anything like it. surfing there is nice warm weather in all, but to really surf a good wave you have to sit in very crowded and competitive line-ups. there are a lot more good surfers there. there are also a lot more ****ty ones. because the total amount of surfers is probably quadroupled there. just because your in sunny california, doesn't make you learn how to surf any better. as ive grown up, the lure of cali has faded. when was the last time you scored your home spot by yourself for three hours, never. and you never will but you think your a real surfer cause you surf a spot everyone in the la jolla area knows. id rather surf spots with no names that nobody knows. point being california wave consistincy wise is better than jersey, but all the **** that comes along with it isn't worth it. i will never go on a surf trip there again. but i will camp on the outer banks whenever i get the chance. you write your posts like an imature 12 year old. you really are a clown.

Anybody even debating between the waves of California and the waves of New Jersey is an idiot. Heller Keller could answer that.

    Jersey vs Cali

I was born and raised in NJ but have lived in Cali for 10 years. Didn't surf that much when I lived in NJ but do when I go back to visit family.
No comparison in terms of surf (more consistent in Cali) but very different in terms of people. Cost of living is high but you can find all kinds of deals on craigslist because of the downturn in market.
One of my jersey girl friends left Cali for NJ and misses it here big time, if that helps.
    good luck to you!
