longboard skateboard

well i have a carve board. and it depens how good you are at boardng, it may sound weird but if you keep an open mind cruising around, then youll find a good spot thays like a wave. but riding a longboard on a concrete wave, its diferent.

 

original skateboards feel pretty surfy when you ride a bank or something. really good nj based company, owned by two brothers who both surf.

If your looking to invest in a board I would recommend getting a Flexdex. I ride a RT Classic 29 and it's like surfing on pavement, worth every penny. http://www.flexdex.com/index.html

 

i think the "surfy" setup is all about wheelbase and staggered trucks so you can pump like on a wave - front truck turny, rear truck stable and 21-26" wb for a 5'11"-6'8" feel

i ride a gravity GiantSlalom 32 so its 23.5" wheelbase feels just like my 6'3", using a tracker rear truck (dewedged for stability and to feel like theres skegs in the back) and a 4.3" Bennett Vector front truck (wedged for more steering)you want some flex in the board but i thought the flexdex was fun, but felt too sloppy realy speed wobbly on any slight hill. also dont use randall or paris trucks, bennet vector is the sickest front truck for a surfy feeling

Get Creative

i ride my brothers old sure grip skateboard no idea of the dementions its great, you have to get creative to get the surf feeling sometimes, pumping for speed vs pushing, i like to do all types of powerslides and turns, yesterday me and some friends were skateing and i saw a puddle got creative and threw buckets of spray, good time.. also another great idea is find a unpainted wooden ramp (like the park and ride pier out to the marsh) wait till its raining or the ramp is still wet and you can slide your brains out once again it takes creativity but if you have some its for sure a great time

 

I recommend the Gravity C39 for those of you wo are taller. I am 6ft and the longer board allows my to spread my feet apart which feels much closer to a surf stance to me. I dont see how you guys ride the smaller boards. They may feel surfy but its all about resembling my surf stance for me. I ride Landsdown skatepark all the time. Best concrete wave around!

 

I do love my carveboard on flat days. Or nights! There are a bunch of us that sometimes cruise around on Saturday nights after 11 or so when all the traffic is gone and we cruise around the neighborhood in a pickup looking to go carving up local hills together. We rotate who drives each bomb because carveboards are only good going downhill. We have hills that go about a mile or so and the driver hangs in the back with the highbeams going and everybody cruises infront of the truck. When traffic is incomming, the driver lets out a couple toots on the horn and we all know to get over to the side of the road. We get back to the pad around 2am or later and then have some beers and call it a night. Damn those are good nights. Exausted and fried legs.

It's just that with a couple kids its tough trying to sleep in the next day, but that the price for getting old and responsible.

 

Im also lookin to get a new longboard, original skateboards looks good but ive always have had flex decks. Do you think i should try an original skateboard

 

I second Jay. Original skateboards are so sick. Closest thing on concrete to surfing. I ride a custom 38, nice wide deck.

 

im assuming flex decks have a good amount of flex based on the name


but i assure you, original boards can have crazy flex. depends what weight rating you get, but i thnk even the heaviest one will still flex a good amount. if i jumped in hte middle of my middleweight it would easily hit the ground. havn't bottomed out riding though

 

I ride a G&S Fiberflex with Orginal trucks. Although it's not technically a carveboard, that sucka rides better than one. It is very much like surfing when you're doing downhill at 25 mph.

The board itself has a ****pile of flex and the spring-loaded trucks just make it all that more carvey. It does get a little squirly when you get over 25 mph. I love that board. I have a few others (orginal, sector 9, etc.) but none can even compete with that one.

I ride an Original Hybrid 35. It's all about the trucks. They offer a great product with excellent customer service.
I also have a Loaded Vanguard which I really like, but my Original is hands down the best board I've ever had that mimicks surfing and doesn't cost a lot.

hamboards use original trucks, thats why they turn so good. i heard they are fun for a half hour. then they are just huge boards

 

i just bought a original hybrid 35 a few days ago its really sick. very much like surfing if you can find some nice smooth banks
