Libtech x ...Lost: Board Review

Dude we are in the same boat. I gotta sell this extra Wynn that I just honestly don't use enough.

I'm in a serious debate on the 5'5" 31cl vs 5'7" 34cl lib tech pj. I range between 165-175lbs and the two boards I ride are 33cl and 37cl but I think I might be over-voluming my sticks.

Hack, if you let me try out that lib I'll buy you six pack.

 

Yeah gotta decide if I wanna kill my shoulders with the 5'10" 27 L or grow into a 6' 30 L. I'm already 6' but kinda lanky and can't get meat on me to save my life.
Hopefully I get off my lazy a$$ and make an effort to fix my fish and shorty so I can possibly sell them to some suckers on here

 

All epoxy boards are, "hard to fix," compared to polyester.

I'm more curious about the epoxy he used, which he cured with UV light. It might have been something special... or it might have been like that crap out of the tube.

After looking at it again, the repair wasn't very clear. A quality 2-part epoxy should come out much clearer than that.

 

went to check them out today and definitely liked their feel. lighter than i expected. pressed my thumbs into them as hard as i could and got nothin. there were some minor scratches on a couple by the nose that i could pick at if i tried, all i thought of was dont smash it against any corners and you'll be fine

most likely gonna drop the dough on one, just gotta figure out what shape and dims. i'll overthink it for a little while since theyre pretty expensive to me. i'm 6' 160 and thinking 6' sub buggy or vert.

 

I have had 3 Lib board and can only say truly positive things about the Lib/Lost. I have the 5'3 puddle jumper and that board is EXCELLENT!!! But their Aireola was way to skatey and the Bowl wasn't loose enough. On the other hand, the Lib/ Lost collaboration is amazing. Im interested in a few of their other models. They make for Perfect travel boards as you dont have to worry about them getting dinged. And more importantly I can beat the sh*t out of them and not worry. The Lib fins are just terrible. FCS has tons of options and I found bigger fins to really bing my Puddle jumper to life. The boards are great for traveling, average to advanced surfers (which is %90 of us) BUT I don't think these boards will ever catch with Pro's or those competing.

 

Fupa what's your weight looking like? I'm leaning towards a PJ in the very very near future.

Frothy, which shop did you go to? See any pjs there?

I might put a down payment on something to secure so I don't feel too guilty. These boards are a hot commodity and I think they only make them in batches.

 

yeah libs are good solid boards for durability .But its a love and hate on their shapes . Some i really like , some are just boards to lend to friends . Puddle jumper will change your summer . fun groveler , laughed at myself so many times on that board , almost can catch a boat wake . 5 ' 3 I'm 150 5 '11 , could go 5'5 but love the feel of 5'3 . The sub buggy is the go to board for solid clean surf . As well as the short round . Short rounds more for a heavy front footer or a big boy looking for a solid short board under 6' 2 . The vert, areola , bowl , their first live was more for entry level surfers . Guys that can surf , like them more for durability , with a little bit missing in performance , There is the new pick up stick i had my hands on . 7'0 fun shape , the bottom of the nose has a little doomed out spot , kinda looks like you could nose ride it . Cant wait to try it real curious to see what it has to offer . Best thing i can say if you use and abuse your sticks , then put away wet and never take care of it , Buy a lib tech .

Kan, no pjs. I went to the brave in point. I believe i held a 5'10" vert, 5'10" and 6' bowl, could be wrong by a little though. One more was there, but looked like it was made for Sasquatch so I didn't pull it out.

Leaning towards 6' sub buggy. Not sure if this will sound dumb, but anybody think the lib tech site will have any deals this weekend? Spent about this much on a new board once and swore I wouldn't do it again, but these just look worth the investment

 

Pull that trigger dude. They definitely seem like a worthwhile investment. I understand the feeling though, my local charges $500 and that $695 tag is a bit more hefty. However, it should last for some time.

Live4truth, when you test out that pj I want to hear about it. I'm your weight-ish maybe a bit heavier and I'm debating on the 5'5" or 5'7". I just don't think the 5'3" would suit me.

 

I would wait to see if Lib will have a black friday deal. They may do free shipping on boards which is huge. I paid around $750 with tax. I bought my PJ from a shop in LBI. None were found in Monmouth county.

I am 5'8 and around 160/165lbs. The 5'3 is good enough for me, although the 5'5 would be a board for a more novice surfer my size.

 

Thanks for the advice. I'm probably more of a novice than you. My favorite board has 37 liters lol it's a beast but I most certainly could drop the size a bit. I may shoot for that 5'5".

I like my trailer at 3 5/8. The 1/8" makes a difference and will loosen it up for you. While my rail fins do move around, depending on the board, my trailer is always in the same spot.

 

Glad you're psyched on these. It's great that they're US made and are really durable. I owned a PJ and gave it a good long trial run. I, personally think that the flex on these kind of sucks. I was really excited when I felt the dampening effect like a PU board but unfortunately think that's what also results in a lacking flex pattern. If you like the feel of these then it's a no-brainer.

 

I surfed my aireola into the rocks on a handful of waves he other day, blew a fin box and broke the nose. Impressed with the durability but holy mother of a repair job.

 

Live4truth did you pay full price or get any deals? Think I'm pulling the trigger today just wanna do one last check to make sure I'm not missing a chance to pinch some pennies since they are crucial this time of year
