Hey Zippy! Sorry for the delay... I wasn't living there in the 80's- but the names sound familiar, maybe from the talk of the other guys of past events. But I don't remember either of them being around as one of the regulars/locals. There was a guy named Jimmy who has been around for a while - but I never knew his last name. He was a bar tender and a super cool and nice guy. Apparently a great surfer, but I don't remember him surfing and if he did, he only paddled out in super big/perfect conditions. Haven't seen him in years (since I moved), but I'm sure he is still around.

There is ZERO evidence that any of that sh1t technology works. Zero. So it is a waste of money.

If magnets were really the answer, manufacturers would be wise to attempt to increase their strength somehow...Maybe with some type of batteries to increase frequency modulation, or something to that effect. Something that creates a larger and stronger field that keeps the nippers further away, like 100 yards or more.

I'm just not sold on magnets being the answer.

I was watching a "Shark Week" episode once where a Whitey was killed at a spot where they normally congregate. I think it was killed by an Orca, I don't remember. But the scientists noticed that the sharks totally disappeared.

This happens a lot in the animal world. When particular critters are killed in a certain manner in a particular area, the animals vacate.

If someone could identify that pheromone mixture of blood and urine and fear and somehow bottle it, I think we'd be a lot closer to an actual repellant.

oh yeah, I forgot that shark repellant already exists lol

That vid is so hilarious. Reminds me of the "Jump the Shark" episode.
