Nice, sounds fun. I took a couple weeks off from my LB and came back to it my last couple sessions and probably today too. Custom 9' Single fin HPLB / Nose rider hybrid, rounded pin tail, fair amount of rocker for bigger waves. It's very nimble.
Speaking of skiing, down here it's so flat you can waterski to the Bahamas. Planning on a ocean mile afternoon high tide. This wave predictin site keeps hyping a waist to chest high clean ground swell due tomorrow precisely at 9:45 am at the Juno Pier, everyone should go. I have my doubts, thinking it will be small here, maybe knee to thigh in the am. Time and tide will tell.
Hey Jack, what's happenin'? I don't know Well, uh, rumor around town says you might be thinkin' 'bout goin' down to the shore Uh, yeah, I think I'm gonna go down to the shore
That's it! I'm putting all of you Floridian guys on block! I can't take it anymore! Between all you guys posting about your weather (and waves) and the family and friends who text me pictures and how great their weather is EVERY day! And these commercials for Florida and Carribean vacations! Haha you guys are cool, I'm just bitter. That sounds pretty sweet though. I'd be down just for taking a boat to the Bahamas from South Florida. If I ever come into a lot of money or hit it big time, I'm gonna buy one of those cigarette boats and take day trips to Bermuda and all over. A family friend down on Anna Maria Island has one. We go down every year in June/July for a couple weeks and get to ride on it. It's kind of old and he doesn't take it all over the place anymore and it only seats 4 and there's usually 8 of us. But we take it for a spin under the Sunshine Skyway and out into the Gulf. I wouldn't dare waterski from it though.
I haven't surfed since late October which is a huge gap in my ocean time. I've been cycling across the u US - started in Miami Beach in early November and that's the last time I've seen the Atlantic. Saw some surprisingly good waves in Alabama and swam out. Last time I saw salt water was Galveston. Next time I'll see salt water will be the Salton Sea, and then the Pacific Ocean in San Diego in a couple weeks - never ever been to California and I'll be arriving on a bicycle. So, I think I have a valid excuse.
Since you're a sponger, hit up Marine Street and the surrounding reefs when you get to SD. That particular area is where experienced bodyboarders usually are found. It is almost impossible to get waves at any "name" break as a bodyboarder in SoCal unless it's the Wedge or the other few shorebreak or slab reefs where experienced bodyboarders congregate.
Did Sayulita, Saladita, Tamarindo, Guiones in late Nov-mid Dec. Ahora, mucho tiempo es no bueno. Mapping surf treks for the months ahead. Almost TPTSNBN spring swells, woo hoo. 3 mln miles & pts built up. Attempting to get Seldome, TLo, & DPSUP off the schneid (well, DP-Legend surfs more than anyone on this nuthouse) with free airs to surf locales but people have lives. Can I say that I miss the posts of MIS13 aka many aliases, also Carter & other veteran insaniacs on the Forume?
I got out today. It was surprisingly fun. Not big or anything. Waist high. Originally the wind forecast was looking good. Then it went to crap. But i had hope and low and behold the wind was calm as hell so it was pretty clean. Low tide. Nice long reeling lefts. First paled our at a peak that was a tad deeper. Got some fun ones. Then all the LBs on the next peak (shallower) paddled over saying it was to shallow. So i snuck to the shallow peak. Had a blast. There were some little barrels to be had although i didn't make any. But a nice rippable wall and plenty of chances to tuck in....good stuff in my book. After about two hours the wind came up and it went to crap. Fun morning though. And it was warm compared to my last sesh. A balmy 40 somthing degrees. Tomorrow's looking smaller but winds are looking good. Going to head to the deeper peak i was on early today with the mini. Fact that it's a longer period swell, i got hope that it'll be fun.
