    I didn't know that.

Also: Mt. Baker gets an average of 641 inches of snow per year. The 1998-1999 season recorded 1,140 inches, a world record.

My wife and I are headed to New Hampshire next week for a little boarding. It looked like you guys got some really good conditions at the beginning of the season but a bit slow as of late. Looking at the extended forecast I'm hoping for 4-6 inches of some fresh before we arrive and a little more snow throughout our stay. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Still, it's going to be much better than anything we'll have here in NC. I hit Sugar Mountain a couple days after that winter storm came through and had fun but it's gone downhill quickly after that. In Surf City, where I live, we've gone 13 straight days of temps in the 60's and 70's. I'm not complaining because our water temps have been nice and we've been getting some decent swells but it definitely isn't helping our ski season. I have a feeling February is going to get bitterly cold as we're due. I plan to do a couple strike missions to Snowshoe when I see a good snow in the forecast. Sugarbush is our favorite NE resort too. Had a couple of really fun days there last year! I figure snowboarding on icy conditions is the same as surfing thigh high waves....sometimes you just gotta make the most of it.

^ I like that last analogy you put in there. Sometimes you just gotta suck it up and deal.

My girlfriend and I are currently debating on Colorado or Costa Rica for spring break. I'm leaning towards CR, but we shall see. I like surfing more, however, snow shredding and hitting jumps is still ill.

Cool shot of me last year.

Ive gotten a bunch of good days in this year. A few at loon, a powder day a bretton woods, early season killington and Jay.

Got a trip to Denver CO and Bellingham WA next week. Will be riding Baker again for sure.

For such a warm and small storm winter, the NE has been pretty damn fun

Rode "The Hole" (jackson hole) years ago with my wife. First day on the mountain we took the gondola to the top. We did not get more than 50 yards before a huge cloud/wind squall covered the top half of the mountain. Myself and my wife are above average snowboarders and have tons of experience. With that being said, I could not see her if she was standing directly next to me...that is how thick and dense the cloud cover was. We were so f'in sketched out. We had no clue which was was up, down, left, right....fully disoriented. I went into full adrenaline focus mode. Ill give my wife credit, she stayed close and did not shell up. Eventually, halfway down the mountain, we were able to clear from the cloud cover. if anyone has ever been to The Hole, they will understand what im saying, given how sketchy the terrain surrounding the groomers is in some areas. We were lucky we did not barrel off of a small cliff But after that incident, the weather cleared and the rest of the trip was a blast. Awesome, beautiful place!

Went skiing today at Cannon and it was f_cking fantastic. Small lines for a holiday weekend, tons of snow, 40˚+ and sunny. View was outstanding. Even the trail under the tram was open although I gave that a pass.

Our most recent trip to New Hampshire was basically as you described. We went during the week and it was definitely colder than your outing but with pretty light winds so it never got too frigid. We arrived to bluebird skies, then it snowed everyday for a week, then on the second half of our last day the bluebird skies came back to see us out in style. We spent some time at Cannon, Bretton Woods, Waterville Valley and Loon. Cannon was fun but Bretton Woods is probably my favorite. I love the White Mountains area because there's so many options in a fairly small area and getting around is super simple.

Had two stellar days at Killington last week. Skied Thursday, skied and snowboarded Friday. Afternoons only, since I had to trade off baby watching duties with the wife. But got in a total of about 8 hours on snow which I'm happy with. Very, very pleased with conditions... last year was worthless and before that I lived in CO for several years so I hadn't seen that mountain with everything open/skiable in quite a while. Used to go up there pretty much every weekend all winter and ski 30-50 days/year, funny thing is I couldn't remember the trail map very well or how to get to places following groomers, but I still remember most of the tree runs basically turn by turn. Everything was in great shape and 100% of the trees were skiable. Neither day was really a powder day, but there's been so much snow up there recently that I was finding thigh deep untracked lines in the woods all over the mountain, in many cases 10-15 turns before crossing another set of tracks. Weird that they are having such a good season up there while we are having about the warmest mildest winter I've ever seen here in jersey, but no complaints at all. Heading back up in a couple weeks sans wife and baby for a drunken weekend with friends.

Last couple of weeks have been fantastic. I took a hookey day and got 20 inches of fresh which was one of the better days I've had in years. The short-fat is outrageously awesome in 6+ inches. If you have the means, I highly suggest one.

However, ts not going to be below 32 in middle to southern vt until sunday, when it will be nuclear bomb proof.

Hoping March gets cold and snowy.

I used to live in Utah. 30 minutes from Snow Basin. Moved back to Jersey and skied a couple of times in Vermont and New York. There was no comparison so I quit altogether.
Then in the early 90's went snowboarding at Hunter. Fuked my wrist up. The next day the waves were epic and I couldn't surf. Never snowboarded again.

I've had completely the opposite experience. Went to grad school in CO for two years, skied religiously on the weekends, by the end of the second season came to the conclusion that I'd rather ski icy sh!tty conditions in VT with a large crew of good friends than ski CO alone or with casual acquaintances. Moved back east for a few years, forgot about this epiphany, ended up back in CO again. Reached the same conclusion very quickly. Had a handful of friends to ski with out there but it just wasn't as fun as the weekends in VT with everyone I got into the sport with. Back on the east coast again, not skiing much last year or this due to financial and life circumstances, but hoping to get back to doing a couple weekends a month up there next season. For me, the whole experience is so much more important than the snow quality. But I legitimately enjoy skiing the gnarliest, sketchiest, thin cover trees you can imagine, probably cause I learned in VT. And it's all relative, I can't get into poconos or NY, VT is my minimum quality threshold, but all things considered most of my best ski days ever have been up there, despite many huge powder days out west.
