Typical. Folks always trying to tell other folks what to do. I stopped drinking so you should to. Blah blah. Nobody cares. Mind your own business
I feel like a Tooheys or two!
I had a beer with my egg sandwich this morning. I like beer and eggs. I really didn't think about till I read this thread.
Man, MR was great. And the beer after a surf is the best beer. Sometimes i dig a rum and coke though.
nothing wrong with drinking unless you lose yourself! wake and bake is awesome if you don't spend the day looking at the report and you go charging! FREON? did I read that right?
I have always hated feeling intoxicated in any way from any substance and I have always hated the taste of alcohol. But, I think it's totally normal to have a beer now and again and other than it being illegal smoking a joint is fine with me as long as it's done when I'm not around. I hate being around drunk and high people.
I think its every surfers personal responsibility to drink and smoke as much as possible. I surf for 5 to eight hours a day. Think that would be as enjoyable with out booze or dope? Not in the pacific north west where its freezing. You need the thc to numb your brain and body for that 5- 8 hour hypothermic session, or your just going in after an hour to sit in the car drink tea and cry cause ur a pu$$y. You definitely need the dope to calm your nerves when your surfing in something over 10 foot faces especially over reef or in a rocky setup. The booze also comes in handy to warm you up after that long healthy huge feast once you get home. I wouldn't be able to do it again the next day without getting a toasty buzz on from some beer the night before to rejuvenate my body/mind/soul while im replaying some of the best waves of the day in my head. What does clown-face know hes just a kook that rolled up in here. All those rehab crusaders are just as annoying and Waney to me as the people in your face with the whole Christianity thing. Let the stupid people die, the sad thing is many of the people you label as "alcoholics" will outlive you.
stopped drinking 4 years ago... only regret is people at bars/social events giving the stink eye cause i dont have a drink in my hand haha.. rather be getting waves a first light then coming out of a bud light coma at noon only to realize I missed the bliss
I can't belive I'm even responding to this crap. But hey, it's not the alcohol that's a problem. It's the person. No offense to anyone. Just my opinion. Moderation. If you can't moderate yourself, that's on you and your will power. Old soul mentioned missing the first waves and waking up at noon. I can go out, have some drinks, wake up without a hang over and be on it before everyone else. Do it all the time. I know when to stop. After a few shots of tequila, i have trouble stopping. Once i hit that level of drunk it just snowballs. What do i do? Don't let myself get to that point. Start of with only a shot or two, then beer. Or just beer from the get go. Just because you partake doesn't mean you have to get black out drunk every time. And that is on you to make that call, not the alcohol
You could always purchase a nice telephoto lens! I typically ensure that I have a safe distance, once the boys get their buzz on, but I do enjoy taking photos of them going wetaurd cell death mode. I should feel guilty about it, but I do not.
Sure you can stop drinking, but who wants to do that Propere terminology would be, you may stop drinking
You do not want to stop drinking, or you will die. On average, such takes about three days, but many people have survived much longer, without drinking.
nothing worse than hearing someone preach! especially booze and drugs! either you can handle it or not? nothing like a cold beer and a fatty after a session but if you have to take it to another level, well?
Red dog, your interpretation of a discussion as "preach" is merely subjective. I clicked a link within one of the previous links that I posted and found it of interest, like I do many things. If it is too much for you to handle, perhaps you should not read it. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4496712/
