Here are my first impressions: Looking at the slightly sloppy lap line on the bottom, and what looks like sanded through pin lines on the top, i'd say this board has been restored already (making the board much heavier than before). Looks like most of the dirt and grime is just old wax though. I'd offer him $200. If he doesn't bite wait a couple weeks and offer $175.

Looks like a legit SA board, and yeah a waveset fin to me. I doubt its from the 1980s, I would think early-mid 70s. Looks like maybe some ding repairs were done so the pin lines got sanded into a bit in a few places and they tried to restore the pin line with an off color. I would think a full restore, they would have redone the pin lines. I hate riding boards like that to be honest...they just feel so damn stiff and tracky. Still...if it comes cheap, can be cool to look at, and maybe paddle out on a really big day why not?

    ^^^Yup....

That board brings back memories... bad ones. Looks like one of the early attempts at creating a "shortboard" during or just after le REvolution. Super down rails, wide nose and pulled in tail, probably no rocker. That's what I learned to surf on, but with the G&S label. But as I said before, it was the same shapers and glassers doing both brands at the time.

That board will probably ride best in head high and up, down the line waves.

Thanks guys. Seller has fielded over 20 emails so he's bumping the price up...I don't think I surf enough to add a board like that to my quiver.

    Too funny

This reminds me of a Tom Eberly lightning bolt that went up for sale on CL a few years ago. The board was in WAY better condition than the one you linked to, and asking price was $80. The seller was about an hour away from me and told me that he posted the ad, went to work, and came home with like 30 e-mails. I told him that the board was collectible and he could get more....he was very cool and sold it to me for the asking price that evening, said he didn't want to haggle.

So i cleaned it up and sold it for $300. :)

Nice flip Mitchell. Sometimes that little bit of honesty goes a long way...and lines your pockets in the process

I bought one about 10 years ago when I wanted to try a new shape but didn't want to spend big bucks on an experiment. I still have the board and it's actually a pretty fun board to ride. Go for it.

I had a SA funboard a while back that was almost identical to this in color scheme/layout. Yours looks like a cousin to mine, so I'd guess it's very much a pop out. Like a fool, I paid $300 new for mine as a knee-jerk reaction to my other funboard being stolen. If this is a popout (and I bet it is) either get a brand new one for the same price or talk them down.
